Bike shop recommendations? I'll be moving to Bloomington from Copenhagen in about 1.5 weeks, and my bike isn't coming with me. I'll need to get a new one for groceries,...

There are three that I know of in town: - Bikesmiths - The Bicycle Garage - Revolution: Bike & Bean (not actually sure the third is still open) I prefer bikesmiths, have always gotten a more authentic feel from their shop and their staff are always super nice (not true for me at TBG). All that said, for a utilitarian bike, if you have the time, I'd recommend buying something used and putting some work into it. A new bike at any shop in town is going to run probably $700-800 minimum.

Velkommen til Bloomington!
The main bike shops in town are Bicycle Garage, Salt Creek Cycles, Bikesmiths, and Revolution Bike & Bean. Of those, I would say that Bicycle Garage and Salt Creek are maybe more focussed on recreational cycling, whereas Bikesmiths and Revolution place a bit more emphasis on regular city bikes.
I personally like Bikesmiths but Revolution is all right too. One nice thing about Revolution is they now carry some electric bikes and cargo bikes, if that interests you. Bikesmiths is now carrying a new line from Giant called [Momentum](http://www.momentum-biking.com/us).
If your budget is more limited, you might try Craigslist and/or visit the Bloomington Bike Project (a bicycle cooperative).
Good luck in your search.

Make sure you pick up some of the free trail maps and suggested routes around town too. Coming from Copenhagen, bike culture here is going to be very different! You have to bike super defensively and expect drivers to completely disregard you. However, I don't mean to scare you, I've lived here six years biking through downtown every day and have had like, a few awkward incidents. It's still a liberal college town with more bike lanes and boxes added every year.

http://bloomington.craigslist.org/search/bia used bikes can be found here. if you find something your are interested in send them an email asking for the lowest price they will take. You can also narrow down the search to remove kids bikes and whatnot.

[Wicks Wheels](http://www.wickswheels.com) carries [A2B Electric Bicycles](http://www.wearea2 b.com) if that is something you are interested in! I don't think they are listed on the Wick's website though. Disclaimer: I am the cheery fellow at the counter at the shop.

I bought a bike last year and visited Bikesmiths and Bicycle Garage in the process. I found Bicycle Garage to be much more helpful and interested in meeting my needs. Their service was great and they were able to get me a decent discount.
My wife and I are starting our search for decent used men's and women's bikes (1 for her/ 1 for me) for commuting around Irvington & Eastside Indy… Anyone have any...
