I googled restaurants that serve smelt in michigan and ohio, and a food article came up amongst the others from the Toledo Blade and it said that the Village Pizzeria and Pub at 714 W. Temperance Rd. in Temperance served smelt. The place in Findlay is Rossilli's, not Rossini's, Enid Vielhaber! I would suggest The Bistro (Bistro on Main) in Findlay.

Café Normandie in downtown Annapolis, MD. Exceptional food, and you'd be taking her to a charming historical American town. Since the drive time is closer to 9 hours, she probably should not be blindfolded en route....:-0
