Dragonfly Cinema is a small quaint vintage theatre in Port Orchard. Have dinner at Cosmos first (in Port Orchard too) by the fireplace...then go to the movies...after you could walk along the waterfront....if the weather permits...or grab a dessert and coffee at Amy's on the Bay. Inexpensive and romantic.

Jenn Brown. I am so sorry for your loss. This was part of the reason we moved here, to buy a real fixer upper so my folks could come live with us due to my father's health issues to be near to good medical facilities closer. He too passed away three weeks ago. I believe his quality of life was the best we could do and he passed away peacefully. I hope this was true for you too. Cancer is a mean way to go. Again my prayers are with all.

The area has a lot of amazing hikes if you guys like picnics; green mountain gives a view of the Olympics and seattle. Euling (sp?) tree farm has some phenomenal waterfalls, check the the tide charts and explore the shore between mannette bridge and warren (manette side, less private property). Or, if you guys like live music https://www.facebook.com/121029031287601 The Charleston , The Manette Saloon, or the The Hi-Fidelity Lounge usually have some pretty awesome music. Good luck!
My teenage niece is visiting from out of state. Any suggestions of things to do with a teenager? Maybe stuff in Seattle? She likes to read, what’s the best book store?...

https://www.facebook.com/155773631181224 Uwajimaya Seattle is pretty fun and has a really cool bookstore. You can walk there from the ferry.

Port Townsend has some fun shops and historical places to see. Ride on Victoria Clipper to Victoria BC. Going to Ocean Shores if she’s not by an ocean. In Seattle- Space Needle, Seattle Center has a couple of museums, underground Seattle tour is fun if okay with dark wet places. Interesting history. Shopping at Pike Place Market, Shopping on the waterfront and Seattle Aquariu. Poulsbo and cute bookstore, Mora Ice Cream there as well as Dancing Brush for painting pottery. Definitely Powell’s books in Portland. Glass Museum can be fun especially watching the glass blowing in Tacoma. Dorkeys arcade can be fun Tacoma. Shopping at Bellevue Square and other high end shops in that area just to see the crazy high prices wealthy people pay for things. There is a trampoline jumping place in Federal Way. Werehouser Bonsai Gardens. The arboretum in Seattle and the Japanese Garden there. If she’s in high school and wanting to check out schools, tour UW.

Wings Over Washington on the Seattle waterfront and then Pike's Place Market is a fun day.
The Seattle Public Library downtown is fun to walk through. There’s also Elliott Bay Bookstore on Capital Hill.

Ballard is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Seattle. Good food, one of my favorite bookstores is there, and The Locks are interesting to see. U Dub might be fun for her to walk around. The campus is gorgeous and their Suzzalo Library is beautiful. If you look them up online sometimes they have exhibits/events going on. Easy to get to now that the light rail has a UW station. It would be a lot of walking since the campus is pretty big. But well worth it. Burke Museum is over there as well. Seattle Center would be worth the trip. Just an FYI, since the Space Needle is currently under construction it’s not quite the same but the observation deck is still open. Plus there is the Museum is Pop Culture (formerly the EMP), Pacific Science Center, etc. Then there is always the zoo, the aquarium, the Seattle Wheel, Pike, etc. Depending on the things she wants to do you can always look into a City Pass.
Any good, used book stores in this county? You know? The ones that give off that vibe of magic and wonder..?
Anna S. replied:
The Book Stop in downtown Poulsbo, I love! It's really organized so it's easy to shop through too, which is always a plus
Kate D. replied:
Book stop is wonderful, if you want labyrinthine and musty smelling the one in Kingston next to the Safeway there (left on the road you take to get on the ferry) is jam packed and great. I've also heard of one in Port Orchard but never been. For new... Liberty Bay Books in Bremerton and Poulsbo.
Does anyone know if there is a Christian Bookstore in Kitsap County any more? The one by Fred Meyer in East Bremerton is gone. I know about Dightman's in Gig Harbor...
Sheila L. replied:
Check the Christian book section at Barnes and Noble in the mall.
