I am new to the area. Can somebody recommend a good car mechanic? My mechanic in Greensboro spoiled me - honest, reliable and a "real character".

It doesn't look as if anyone's recommended Rocky Hill Auto Specialists - but I've been to several mechanics here now (somewhat new myself) and there's no one I trust more than Shawn (the owner). He will even walk me through what he's doing and why so that I understand.
Hey Brevard motorheads! My trusted jeep mechanic has injured his back and won't be turning wrenches for awhile. Not only does my '63 Willys need some love right now, I'd...

Mark Rhodes. Mark is a mechanic at Egolf and is a lover and driver of old jeeps. The yellow CJ in town is his.
Tipanay F. replied:
Mark, I use Kenny Byrd at Hometown Automotive for my Jeep but I'm not sure if he works on the older models, but I recommend him without a doubt. Other than that my dad is rebuilding a Jeep, older model, with a guy who I think specializes in that type of thing, and if you PM me I can send you his name.

I would suggest Brian Norris. He worked as a mechanic in the military so I would say "old stuff" and specialty vehicles is right down his alley. He is an A+ mechanic. Check out Norris Mechanics Krystal Abshire Norris

Hello, I have a small repair buisness and I work on mostly Subarus Toyotas and Hondas but I have a soft place in my heart for the classics. I've grown up working on aircooled VWs, Land Cruisers, Jeeps, ect and know the ins and outs of rebuilding carbs and tuning carbs, replacing and setting points, and all sorts of various "outdated technologies". You can reach me at 828-342-7211 and I can provide references upon request.

I've used C&R Auto down the hwy from Walmart for oil changes to replace an alternator for my Lexus. Sweet, competent guys. I also subscribe to AAA's prime auto membership that gives enough miles for towing it to the Greenville Lexus dealer if needed.

We'd love to help. We would really need it at our shop here in town on Osborne rd. We could have it towed for now more than $50 if you're interested let me know :) 384-1743.
Can anybody recommend a good mechanic (honest, fair prices) in the area that has Saturday hours? Thanks!
Kim D. replied:
Hometown Automotive--Kenny Byrd is a great guy, very fair, very honest, and they do work on Saturdays. They have even come to pick my car up and delivered it back after they were finished.
Andy G. replied:
I'm a huge fan of Total Auto (Next to the bowling alley on 64), not sure of any specific mechanics but I've taken my car there probably 1/2 a dozen times or more now and I only have positive things to say. I never feel like they are trying to pull anything over on me and usually my bill is LOWER that I expected. Plus all the folks there are super nice.
Judy P. replied:
We have a fantastic place for our Corvette and other car but it is not close. It is Smith Family Tire on 191 but they are good and open on Saturdays [I think].
