Virginia S. replied:
Hey Brendan, we've been taking our pets to https://www.facebook.com/158324810883385Schulhof Animal Hospital, LLC. They're surprisingly affordable, and also they have a 50% OFF discount for your first visit. Make sure to print the coupon on their site.:)

Amy A. replied:
Mattatuck Animal Hospital 1095 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, CT 06708 (203) 754-2105 I've been quite happy with them and they cost a fraction of what other vets charge. Unfortunately the other day I noticed my dog has suddenly gone blind. Today I went to a different vet, and paid $500 an appt. and labs that I know would have been around a $150 at Mattatuck. I'm really upset at my decision today. I wish I had gone to Mattatuck again. If it is just for vaccinations, etc. I would do a local rabies clinic. Also at Petco on the weekends they have a lot of services through Luvmypet. Go online and look for the schedule there at different locations on different days at different times
Amy A. replied:
Also you can buy flea and tick prevention online. I get heartworm meds from overseas. Petshed.com is good. If you get an RX for other meds, see if you can get it filled at Costco or if there is a human equivalent. I was recommended medicine that would cost a couple hundred dollars a month from the vet. I found an alternative that I spend about $12 for every 3 months that I fill at Costco.
I'm new to the West Hartford area and am looking for a great vet. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thank you!
Stephanie N. replied:

I have used Veterinary Specialist of Connecticut in West Hartford since I moved here in 2006. I have never had any problem with them. I especially like that they have an MRI factuality, etc. and will soon be an emergency vet. They were there for me when my OES Molly had myasthenia gravis and megaesophagus. I have had dogs since 1980 and Vet Specs is the best vet I have ever been to. https://www.facebook.com/vetspecialistsofct

Conor P. replied:
We've had good service at Southport Veterinary Center on Post Road in Fairfield. They were a little pricey, however, but that was for an emergency procedure on my cat some years ago. Also, not in Black Rock, but there's excellent service at Dr. Noonan's in Weston, and they're surprisingly more affordable than you would assume, although that's a 20 minute drive.
Jonathan R. replied:

Debbie S. replied:
Outside of Black Rock, but still in BPT - Brookside Vet. The original owner, Howard Hochman, has taken it back and is running it again with his son Daniel. I used to use Engelberg Kristy, but if you get Dr Willis, good luck. She couldn't diagnosis my dog's tooth abscess, even with her face vastly disfigured. The Hochman's even do work for the zoo.
Lynn A. replied:
Ash Creek for sure!

John H. replied:
I'd like to know myself. We go to Engleberg-Kristy over on Villa Avenue; Dr. Kristy is a great vet but he's kinda pricey and not real close. If there's someone better, or even as good, close by, that would be nice to know.
Melissa H. replied:
We go to Trumbull Mobile Vet now...after going to every vet locally and feeling over charged. We love them there. Father and daughter practice and super thoughtful when you are there

Also interested in reviews of Black Rock Animal Hospital. I live right down the block and it would be so much more convenient for me if they also had reasonable prices...
Courtney W. replied:
I have gone to Blackrock animal hospital for years. I have rescued quite a few stray kittens that were born behind my house and found then homes (close to 20) Dr. Wasfi has always been very fair with me both with the strays as well as my own pets. He really cares about the animals I definitely recommend him.
John H. replied:
I get my stuff from 1800 petmeds.com; it's about half what you pay at the vet. I don't buy stuff at the vet's unless I absolutely have to.

I hate to say this but there are a ton of resources for vets in Bpt. Does he even want help sadly some prefer this life... United congregational provides a dinner Thursday nights on corner or park and state Wednesday they have a good pantry and clothing drive. Behind the center for women and family they have a homeless center you can use phone eat lunch etc Home of the brave is another vet resource I'm assuming there s waiting list Rescue mission in ffld Ave is s other resource provides lunch and dinners and shelter / bed at night Va hospital has an overload of resources from mental health services to a person sharing what benefits that person is able to recurve hospital care and treatment plan. Sadly there is a lot of resources and many don't want the help Mental heathy not substance abide play a role or they are scamming Lmk if you need more help
Tom R. replied:
The Veterans Support Center is the first of its kind in the nation. This unique center serves as a central location for area veterans to access City, State, and Federal assistance. A wide range of services are available such as transportation to the West Haven V.A. hospital, membership to the food pantry for Bridgeport residents, information about veteran housing applications, as well as assistance with City, State, and Federal benefits, compensation, pensions and more.
Kate R. replied:
The VA will pick him up!!! Also there are Veteran Services on East Main. Councilwoman Milta Feliciano runs it.
Ann W. replied:
I agree. VA health care leaves much to be desired, but they do have a good outreach programs for homeless vets. They assist with housing, etc.
Gail O. replied:
Call Sister Eilene at 203-243-1922. She is a Sister of Mercy and a resource for homeless in Black Rock.
I just moved here and need to take my cat, Miss Sunday, to a local vet for an annual check up and vaccinations. Any recommendations?
Thomas H. replied:
I take my cat to Aristokatz up in Fairfield, but I've heard good things about Ash Creek Animal Hospital as well. I like Aristokatz because its cats only, and my Basil doesn't do well with dogs.

Definately Aristokatz awesome people http://www.aristokatzvet.com
Anyone know of baby bunnies for sale for Easter? And places to purchase hutches besides Benedict’s? Also, what reasonably priced veterinarians are in the area that...
Cynthia D. replied:
http://rabbitbreeders.us/connecticut-rabbit-breedersPet shops have given up the sale of rabbits, and many small animals, because of pressure and protests against it. You can google search “Rabbits for sale near Bridgeport” and come up with a list, that’s where I found the link. The breeder should know, and be able to advise, about a veterinarian. You can buy a hutch online, or any large pet store.

So... I've worked as a vet tech for years, mostly at all cat practices. The best is Dr Guth at Caring for Cats. It's in Manayunk, but only 15 mins from us. Extremely clean and very fair priced. Doesn't smell and it's truly a great place. (215-509-6060). They have MANY 5 star reviews. Another place I think is truly amazing and not far either is Radnor Vet Hospital. Any of the Drs there are truly amazing and caring. Very clean facility and affordable. Cats only has been under a new dr for many years now and is rather expensive. Gulph Mills has been around a while. Dr Greenspan and Robin really are wonderful (but if u need to get out in time, it can be a little hard... the dr loves to talk, but is truly so nice!! He was the first vet i ever went to bc he also did exotic animals and i had 2 ferrets. Go on Yelp.com, i found it very helpful when looking for a lot of things.

Frank G. replied:
There was a huge negative posting here on BRCU within the last week to 10 days. The bottom line is to stay away. Many recommendations for Ashcreek Animal Hospital/Dr.Kris Hansen. Maybe check with Nutmeg Clinic in Stratford for "budget" reasons. Hopefully, others will give you more advice/recommendations.Another long term recommendation for long term cat health/safety is to keep them inside. Good luck with your kitties.
Michele P. replied:
