I went to Dr. Sudick in Whittier. I have severe anxiety. We learned that Valium does nothing and settled on halcyon. If you want a root canal specialist, I have an awesome guy, but he is south of you. I bit him (twice I think) and he was still nice.

Dr. Parsi in downtown LA. I can't find the number right now, but he's online. I HATE dentist visits and he was so kind and gentle when I needed a retreatment on a root canal that had been done a few years ago by someone else. The pill and gas he gave me helped too.:)
