I'm a single mother and I have severe anxiety/depression/PTSD issues. My son has just turned 6, so Centrelink needs me to start looking for work. That's fine. I'm so...

Sarah didn't realise u were this bad. I suffered this last year mine was due to a lot of hormonal issues I found yes talking did help with someone they tried to medicate me made me worse I found writing in a journal helped me and music. Also try St Johns Wart it's an all natural alternative better than the drugs the doctors give u. I found it helped me just unfortunate I can't take it with being on HRT medication. Uniting Care in Maroochydore I think school rd is a free organisation with councillors I found them quite helpful and was funded through the government. I found the first Physcologist I wasn't getting anywhere and changed to another maybe request to see a different one or try Uniting Care in Maroochydore. Also Hun known you for a long time if you want to catch up for even a coffee send me a message I have been where you are for many years due to my health xz

http://sunshinecoasthospital.com.au/our-services/cooinda-mental-health-service/services/trauma-recovery-for-veterans-program It says that DVA patients are covered but due to your situation, I'm thinking Sole Parent would be covered too. Explain to your GP that you simply cannot afford it, and they can request to have it bulk billed. They will put you on a mental health care plan. I'm a single of 3, going through the same thing, so if you'd like to chat, feel free to inbox me :-)

http://www.adtc.net.au/sunshinecoast/clinical_psychology_team.htm This was my Dr and if I was still on the Sunshine Coast, this is who I would see. I've been to many professionals for mental health and I cannot recommend anyone more! Dr Chris Edwards is in Noosa and while there is still a gap you can discuss the cost with him or alternatively reach out to the Salvation Army or other charities for help covering these costs.

Yes, Marion Drennan at Caloundra private hospital. Seriously, I couldn't get through a 4 hour shift at work without my anxiety flaring up. I too have PTSD and depression, along with social anxiety. I'm not on medication so she will help you with deciding what's best:) she also has an assistance dog who helps to keep you calm. I was seeing a psychologist for 2 years and throughout those 2 years suffered and did not cope still. I wish I had of seen Marion sooner and gone on the meds sooner.

Forcing single parents into mutual obligation when there is huge job deficit on the coast is non-nonsensical and ethically wrong. It's the govt. job to make sure the jobs are there in first place instead of unnecessarily persecuting people that are already doing it tough. If you agree, please get behind AWP and check out their universal job guarantee policy which recognizes domestic labour as work worthy of socially inclusive remuneration. https://www.facebook.com/AusWorkersParty/

Hi Sarah as an alternative option to psychologists you could try www.facebook.com/theanxietyadviser or www.theanxietyadviser.com.au. He specialises in assisting people with anxiety and gets some great results.
Em K. replied:
Hi Sarah, not sure what part of the coast you are based on but this Psychiatrist is in Caboolture. Dr Dushan Alponsu MBBS, MD Psychiatry, FRANZCP, IFAPA (Specialist Psychiatrist) - he works out of the Caboolture Super Clinic. You get the rebate from Medicare, regardless of health care card however there is still a gap but from memory it is quite less than what others charge. It might be worthwhile to check it out .
Hi! Can anyone recommend a psychologist or councillor that specialises in anxiety... Especially related to teenagers, separation issues, sleepovers, ummm...panic attacks?

Does anyone know of a holistic psychologist that bulk bills?
Stace C. replied:
Iona Valant in maleny is. She's not bulk billed as such but you can get hooked up for 10 free sessions with your doctor. She's a bit of a hike from the coast, but I HIGHLY recommend her. She's brilliant
Tracey S. replied:
You may want to look into a Mental Health Plan which your bulk billing Dr could provide. Dr Barbara Haddon is one to consider.
