Looking for a summer camp for my 5 year old boy this year. Anyone know of some good ones?

My son went to Monarch Summer Camp for Lego Camp on the LA Valley College Campus last year (he had just turned 6 when he went) and I felt they did a good job of having enough counselors and secure check-in and check-out. Our friend's daughter went all summer (after trying several other camps and not liking them) and loved Monarch.

http://steveandkatescamp.com/ this camp ROCKS! So many different things to do. They have different rooms, one for music, one for art, one for cooking. The kids have a ball, because they can go to different rooms as they please and they don't get bored. Check it out. Lex went once in Marin County, but they have it here too.

Steven and Kate is great. Very expensive though - $340 per week. North Hollywood Rec Center camp is good, they have their own pool, where kids go every day and once a week have a field trip + Free party lunch on Fridays - $155 per week http://www.laparks.org/.../pdf/northHollywood/brochure.pdf

Also, Boys and Girls Club of Burbank is great - $100 per week (lunch included) + every day activities for the nominal fee (pool $10, movie - $15, tennis lesson - $10, etc. + field trip once a week around $50). They have a big computer room in Burbank, outdoor basketball court, indoor dining and arts and crafts room... http://www.bgcburbank.org/
