Landlord or Roommate? Cause I can't think of a reason they could compel you to pick one over the other other than if they live with you. Anyway ADSL is pretty crappy compared to 2017 options.

I have been using lightspeed for 2 years now with their ADSL, their price is not the cheapest but it never increases. 99% of the times it has been reliable, they use Telus infrastructure.

AEBC or Lightspeed (https://www.lightspeed.ca/) are your best bet.

$44.95/month for 25M, unlimited data
I live in a basement suite with just my wife who likes watching YouTube videos. For me, I just need it for browsing and occasionally working from home via Remote Desktop or Teamviewer. Looking into the possibility of getting an Android box for some TV as well. Since it's just my wife and I, we won't be using too many devices simultaneously compared to a family with more people.
Would 25M be sufficient or would I need 50M (both unlimited data)?

You can do Telus and just get them to match Teksavvy's price. No contract, no setup fees and Wifi-router rental is free. You just need to be a bit pushy with them and they will do it
