The Fox & Parrot Tavern and The Rampant Lion. They are allowed as long as they don't go into the kitchens. Check bringfido.com for reviews of how any restaurant in the area is friendly towards dogs.
Any pet friendly restaurants around? Not just for service animals, but regular fur-babies?

I would think that for any restaurant it is a liability issue, as they are licensed through the state/Health Dept./Environmental Health and this goes against health code. Not only for the risk of allergic reactions, but also for legal reasons if a patron is bitten. Likely those that have outdoor areas would be your best bet, just be sure and call ahead to inquire, this is very common practice in Europe.
I need prayers, please!!

Dog friendly? Hi Bellingham!
I’m looking for recommendations for dog friendly restaurants, coffee shops, etc. that don’t normally have a LOT of dogs. My rescue GSD...
GrizzledBits replied:
As someone who very recently was covered in our dogs blood after it was attacked by another dog at a brewery, I would request that you muzzle your dog if it doesn’t get along with others. That being said, almost all breweries allow dogs (a few exceptions) and they tend to have food trucks. Any place that has a kitchen most likely isn’t going to allow non-service animals.
stellar_marmot replied:
No offense but this sounds like a huge liability for you, there always tends to be a lot of dogs at all the dog-friendly establishments. Why not consider something more structured?

I would recommend a consultation and a few classes with a good trainer to encourage your dog's confidence. Embarking the Dog and Bellingham Dog Guy are excellent resources. Good luck with your pup!

I take my dog to tap rooms all the time. The ones I've seen the fewest dogs are Menace, Lost Giants and Chuckanut. The ones I've seen the most are Wander and Stones Throw. A lot of restaurants that have outside seating will allow a dog. But that's hard to find now that fall is here. Check out La Fiamma pizza (heated outside seating).
Not a food place but Little Squalicum dog park is great for unsure dogs. People and their dogs just pass through and there's tons of space for your pup to feel safe. Bring food and have a picnic!
If you're ever unsure of what your dog will react to, or can't read dog body language well, don't put him/her in uncomfortable situations. I have a GSD, too, and while she's very well socialized, there are some places we just don't go 'cause she doesn't dig the vibe. Good luck!

So you’re kinda barking up the wrong tree here. If your dog isn’t food with others please don’t bring them out to establishments that allow pups. The reason this whole scheme works it because the dogs that do come out are generally really calm and chill. I know it sucks (I grew up with a reactive beagle) but it’s for the betterment of the community. If you’re looking for dogs to socialize with there are much better opportunities than a cafe where the potential for a fight is real.

I’d like to point out that many dog owners in Bellingham don’t necessarily believe that leash laws apply to them and assume all dogs friendly. When on leash my dog can be reactive to larger dogs that run up to him barking and jumping-not shockingly, but many owners with friendly jumpy barking dogs with will let’s their dogs on retractable leashes rush over to other tables - therefore making it impossible to safely have any less than social dog at a brewery unless muzzled. Which there is nothing wrong with and quite frankly generally solves the problem because people stay clear of muzzled dogs so it’s a win win! Your dog is calmer because other dogs are being kept clear of him and there is no chance of anyone’s dog getting hurt. With that being said, as a responsible dog owner, even those with friendly dogs should be mindful of other people’s dogs and always ask permission before engaging the two in introductions- for the safety of both.

GrizzledBits replied:
To follow up your follow up, there aren’t any restaurants or breweries where off leash animals are allowed other than Paws For A Beer. Nor should there be.
erikaloves replied:
Potentially unpopular opinion but true none the less: the bigger danger to safety all around is an unleashed friendly dog than a leashed reactive dog. There are VERY FEW exceptions of off leash dogs who are completely under voice control.

Green hills mall. Cheesecake Factory is right there yumm. I loved the grand ole opry. You can look and see who is playing. I saw Brantley Gilbert, lee Brice, oak ridge boys, Kevin Costner and a few others it was awesome. Also did the cruise on the river, it was worth it. Downtown is cool, lots of music and bars and places to eat. Have fun!
