Hi Taynya - This is Patti from Klondike Insurance - Yes we have an insurance company that will offer SEF 27 on bikes - One of my clients just used this coverage to rent a Harley in Phoenix to ride to Sturgis. Call our office Monday - ask to speak with Les Kasha. He heads my motorcycle department. Klondike Insurance is a leader in Alberta in providing the BEST motorcycle coverage at the Best price!

I'm switching to his new company when my ass in gear to do it (need money up front I hear ya Swally Swede, just completed moving all our insurance over to our boy Sanjay Chada at Lundgren. Saved a ton of money and better coverage.

Daryl M. replied:
I find the service at Universal Cycle to be great and honest. They specialize in Japanese bikes http://www.universalcycle.ca/Home/
Jim W. replied:
Don Fergin at Universal Cycle is the best Jap bike mechanic in western Canada I know people that come in from Medicine Hat for him to work on their bikes. A honest, and interested wrench swinger, and all round nice guy. I wouldn't take my ride anywhere else.
Randy B. replied:
I like Mike a Performance too, decent strait up guy,.In the south just off centre street and Glenmore trail http://www.pcacanada.ca/
Darrel D. replied:
Kevin at Lucid Kustoms is a good guy. Give them a try. They offer out of province specials every once in awhile.

Bike repair shop recommendations Road bike damaged following being hit in the bike lane.
Mec is my first thought. Second recommendation?
marcxvi replied:
Where is it damaged? Also, may I recommend /r/bicycling? They might help you out and tell you what you can do
ilipah replied:
Have taken bikes to 4 repair shops in the city. My preferred shop for service is Bow Cycle because of good expereinces with their predictable scheduling process, although if it is a small repair I've had really good luck with The Bike Shop and Calgary Cycle taking a look at it on the spot with no appointment. Also the Calgary Cycle family of stores (pure, road..) offers free service if your bike is from one of their shops.
drays replied:
Campione is my usual choice, it's also the shop of choice for many track racers, road riders and bike messengers. If it's an insurance claim, they handle those or at least used to. If you tell them 'Rhino' sent you, and the guy on duty is the one who knows me, I might get a little swag next time I am in :)
imanananas replied:
Prime Tune Shop. Best customer service i've ever had out of a bike shop!
calgarydonairs replied:
I'm no bike expert by any means, but Ridley's Cycle in Kensington fixed up a 30 year old bike that I found, so they I'm betting they can handle a tricky job. It was a bit pricey, but they did a really good job.
mcjlapointe replied:
Go to Tuxedo source for sports on center Street. Go there all the time, the guys in the back have been repairing bikes for years and know what they are doing and charge reasonable prices. Taken my bike there many times
PopcornMouse replied:
[Goodlife Bikes has DIY repair with donation and help from staff](http://www.goodlifebikes.ca/contact/) my friends have used their services and thought they were a great resource. But this might also depend on the level of damage to your bike and how DIY you are willing to go. They have everything you need there to repair your bike, and the expertise to help. [These people also seem good, but unfortunately are understaffed...perhaps they could point you in the right direction though?](http://www.bikebros.ca/bike_service.htm)
Petzl89 replied:
Do not go to MEC! They have no idea what they are doing when it comes to anything past a very basic tune. I've had decent luck with The Bike Shop (not cheap, but honest), they will tell you if you bike is beyond repair (frame damage) instead of just repairing it so it barely works. Cyclepath has been pretty decent in the past also, the guys are really good to talk to generally. Bowcycle isn't bad at all, just getting a little big and impersonal. Really depends on the bike, a road bike? Might be worth taking to Speedtheory or Campione (these guys are great), MTB/Hybrid/Commuter you can take anywhere I mentioned really without issues.

UofC outdoor center rents out a variety of bicycles. No idea on prices or services, but it's worth checking out. Can easily get down to the river path from the U and go from there. EDIT: also it's open to the public...you don't need a student ID or any of that jazz.
