Hi Nick I have personally been a member of Guild of master craftsmen and they used to be the cheapest easiest accreditration to obtain (Not sure what they are like now) As for the checkatrade not checking out trades properly this is not my experience with them. They are now working in partnership with Surrey Trading Standards and even carry out criminal record checks as standard, Not sure any of the other organisations do? Of my 5 references to join all were checked by a thorough phone call and 1 followed up via a site visit! As far as booting out if you get a complaint.........Checkatrade offer legal advice to both it's member and the customer and are very professional when there are problems between trades and customers. If the aim of your post is to help consumers make an informed choice of which accreditation is not worth the paper it's written on ..........Rated People and My Builder.com both let you join without checking references and neither will be interested when anything goes wrong!
