I went through the same process (without a lawyer) in 2012-2013. The process may have changed, but if you have any questions, I'd be happy to offer whatever assistance I can. Feel free to PM.
JennyFromDaBlok replied:
You really don't need a lawyer for that and you can PM me. I've done it for someone else fairly recently.

I paid 3500 for my husband's immigration lawyer (submitted his dossier several months ago). Honestly, I don't suggest a lawyer. You are still required to provide all of the info and do the work, they only paraphrase your response into the fields on the forms. I noticed a number of mistakes the lawyer made ( including spelling my own name incorrectly ) prior to him submitting and he really didn't do anything independently, I sat with him for almost three hours filling out the forms together BC he neglected to do them within a several week timeframe. Save your money and do it yourself.

You could call CIC to clarify any questions you have without providing your information. Someone may be able to answer your questions in here as well.

that's about the going rate. you really don't want to save on immigration. I don't know if you really need to go through a lawyer though. Your international student dept. at university should be able to steer you in the right direction for documents you need etc. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asphttp://www.canadianbusiness.com/economy/canada-has-overhauled-its-immigration-process-for-international-students/

You are likely better off posting your questions online (in reputable, related forums) and vetting the answers you get.
I'm an immigrant and did the entire process for me and my wife solo; other than an misunderstanding that delayed me a couple of months, the process was smooth. Nearly 99% of friends and family who had gone through lawyers had more bumps on the road and lost thousands of dollars.
Do yourself a favour; sit down the patiently comb through the documentation posted on official sites; if you have questions, prepare them as best as you can and use the available government services to get them answered; in a pinch, post them online to get more guidance and vet said guidance before following through
Good luck!

Go through the Law Society of Upper Canada referral service. The larger the firm, the longer it'll take (in my experience).
My uncle is an immigration lawyer based in Portland http://immigration-group.com/

You could try national lawyers guild, they would likely at least have leads. Poverty Law Center might also point you in the right direction. Are you living in Boston?

What kind of immigration lawyer are you looking for? I used to work for Kaplan, Friedman & Associates- they do mostly family and asylum but also have a partner who specializes in employment.
