Without a doubt, L&G Bakery Creations. The cakes that are on their website (naked cakes with fruit) were made for my daughter's wedding and they were absolutely beautiful and delicious! And their prices are very reasonable. Very nice ladies. Highly recommend them.
I remember the 5 Star loaf from the 60's, Robertsons Bakery were at Durranhill Trading estate next door to Border TV, if my memory is correct.

THERE is likely to be no early announcement on whether Rathbones Bakery in Carlisle will be rebuilt following Saturday's disastrous fire. The factory, formerly Robertsons Bakery, employed 196 people in bread manufacture and distribution before fire gutted the site on Durranhill Industrial Estate. Deliveries are being handled from a temporary warehouse at Kingstown, provided by Eddie Stobart, but other staff have not been told if they will continue to be paid or if the factory will re-open. Rathbones' group chief executive, Jon Sopher, said: “We are still assessing the situation. When we have something to say we will make a statement.”However, he admitted that the company was looking to see if production could be switched to its other bakeries in Wigan, Wakefield, Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Lydney and Newport. Just under half the Carlisle workforce are members of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers' Union. District official Ian Hodson said: “When Bellamy's Bakery in Manchester burned down it closed for good. We are hoping that history isn't going to repeat itself. “We spoke to local managers yesterday but they are unable to tell us anything. There has been no commitment on payments yet.” Rathbones makes own-label bread for supermarkets. Its biggest customer is Bradford-based Morrisons. It is understood that Rathbones has spare production capacity within its bakeries and has suffered as supermarkets have put pressure on suppliers to cut prices. The company was part of the Irish foods group Greencore but was sold last April for £20million to Finedon Mill, a flour-milling business based in Northamptonshire. Last month it sold a bakery at Stockton-on-Tees to rival Warburtons. 22 February 2005 12:00AM
