Has your child ever attended a summer camp? Have you done day or overnight camp? Can you recommend any? We'd love to hear your experiences and would love to add those...

HIGHLY recommend the Treatment & Learning Center Summer Program in Maryland--we did the Camp Littlefoot Speech Program and I can tell you HUGE strides with intensive speech therapy in a matter of weeks--family even noticed the difference when talking on the phone. VERY WELL ORGANIZED & STRUCTURED! http://ttlc.org/summer_programs/

We did Camp ASCA in Alabama last summer, for military - it was free, they have a week where military (first come first serve) families can come and stay in a room together. We are returning again this summer around the July 4 th weekend. It was a great experience for our family. We were totally wiped by the end of it, with 3 small kids, but it was so worth it. This summer we are also going to do Camp Yofi, in Georga - it's a 5 day camp in august for Jewish families living with autism. There are some great activities and respit options for the parents while the children are busy in activities. We've heard good things about it, but I can let you know about our experience by the end of the summer. I have heard great things about Camp CAMP in the Hill Country, San Antonio, TX, but our son at the time was too young to attend. Just the other day at a doctor's visit, the doctor suggested it to me.

My son has attended Kids for Camp in Pensacola for the past 5 years. He loves it! It's a day camp run by Autism Pensacola. Educationally based, staff is trained in using ABA techniques in the classroom and in the community. Older kids (16+) volunteer in the community to work on job skills. Lots of fun activities, while learning at the same time. http://www.autismpensacola.org/Camp.html

My son went to Camp Lots of Fun, run by the Pierce County Rec department in Washington State. It's a day camp kids with special needs, run by a Special Ed teacher. He made a ton of progress there, especially with his social skills. There are only 90 slots, and they fill up fast within the two hour. I'm closely watching to see when the registration for this summer is. He wants to go back so bad.

Camp Camp in San Antonio is fantastic for all different kinds of special needs. they also allow siblings who are not special needs to attend so the parents can have a full break for themselves.
