I'm thinking of putting arena lights around one arena - any idea about how much that would cost for parts and installation? Do you need an electrician to do it?

My experience is with tennis court complex lighting design. A few things though come to mind... use high quality metal halide. Good efficiency and quality of light (color rendering), set tall poles with good distribution. LED doesn't cover the area, yet, for an arena. A good start as research here....http://www.horsechannel.com/horse-exclusives/lighting-horse-arena.aspx
Attention TX & NM Friends: If you needs some electrical work done, please feel free to contact Kevin Maris (Licensed Electrician) or myself. He is looking for some side...
I need a local electrician to DONATE their time and effort to get eletric working for an 82 year old friend who has no heat and half his electricity is not working.
