I've been looking for a good dentist for years. Dr. Melissa Davidian is waaayyy too expensive and Dr. Peter Lim is a complete douchebag if that helps your search!

I have used both Dr's at Raleigh Dental for checkups and fillings, and I really like them. http://www.raleighdentalcenter.com/ I found them and my other Dr's through http://www.healthgrades.com/

If you're willing to come out to Chapel Hill, [Diane Hourigan](http://www.dentalcarechapelhill.com/) is the best I've ever been to. She's very thorough and does a complete check up before your first cleaning going through your teeth one by one. She also goes over a survey with you asking what you are looking for in a dental provider (preventative versus fixative, do you prefer to know the specifics or just have things done, etc). At every check up, they go through each tooth again to check the condition of the tooth and gum line so they can compare between each visit. She is seriously the best dentist I've been to and everyone I've recommended her to feels the same way.

There's been a new place that has posted here in /r/raleigh. "As our way of thanking the /r/Raleigh community, we want to give free new patient exams, free digital X-rays and a $10 gift card to any redditors who would like to come visit us at our new office in Apex (for comparison, we normally charge $210 for a new patient exam and x-rays)." http://www.reddit.com/r/raleigh/comments/1 vbsw5/thank_you_rraleigh_now_have_some_free_friggin/

Depending on how far you're willing to go, I've always used Beavers Family Dentistry in Apex, on the corner of Hwy 55 and Hunter Street.

I was just at the dentist today! I see Dr Staehling at [Southern Dental Arts](http://www.southerndentalarts.com/). He's awesome, very thorough and attentive. He's always listened to my concerns and given me honest feedback about the work that needs to get done vs what we can just keep an eye on. I have a treatment plan but there's never any pressure into getting the work done immediately, which I can appreciate. He even cleaned up some rough edges on some of my previous fillings. They always remember my name and the prices seem very reasonable in comparison to the last dentist I was going to. His hygienist is also very gentle! She did a fantastic job on me today even though I admittedly haven't been flossing. The best part is they have TVs in the room and you can change it to any channel you want to watch while getting work done. It helps fill that awkward silence and gives you something else to focus on. Before I found Dr Staehling I was going to Village Dental at Olde Raleigh. ***Stay far away.*** I can go into specific details, but they really sucked and I'm just happy to have found a great new dentist.

My playmate-for-life has gone to Dr. Carol Hipps since he was a little boy, off and on whenever the insurance he held covered him there. He's currently a patient there and he's really happy with the office. We both loved Zervos and Earwood, but they don't accept our insurance. I have friends that rave about Stansell Dentistry and I'd be happy to try them if they accepted my insurance. I DO NOT recommend University Dental Associates. Those people are fucking shady. I had to track down their office manager who was dodging me and show her my credit card statement and their receipt to prove that I paid them over $300.00 the day of a procedure. It disappeared off my invoice after the bill was submitted to my insurance. This is only one of a series of very bad experiences I had with them. Clinically they're fine, but the business management side is poorly run.

We really like Dr. James Bohn in Apex. Maybe it's Cary. Basically his office is off 55 and High House. Very conservative in his treatment. I'd never been to a new dentist that was against unnecessary XRays for new patients if they'd had them in the last few years. He doesn't want to subject people to radiation if he doesn't need to. He's super nice and friendly, as are his team members.

If North Raleigh is workable for you, Southern Dental Arts (Dr. Ryan Staehling) is great. The office is less than 2 years old and you get to watch TV while they work on your teeth. Cameras can show you the work that needs to be done on that TV as well. Dr. Staehling is great!

If you are in the Briar Creek area, check out Stansell Dentistry: https://plus.google.com/116266644312894250928/about?hl=en&gl=us I am a big baby when it comes to dentists. They treated me right. All the staff is great and so is Dr. Stansell. I cannot recommend them enough. Just check out the reviews on the Google+ page.

[Dr. Scott Donner!](https://www.yelp.com/biz/donner-m-scott-dds-durham) He's actually in Durham, but trust me, the short drive is worth it. My sister recommended him, and that's where her husband and their two kids go. I've had three appointments - two crowns and a cleaning. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Dr. Donner himself is a cool guy.
