Does anyone know of a good person to talk about life? Like a therapist?
Sarah J. replied:
Therapists do not prescribe medicine, that is the profession of a paychiatrisf. And a paychiatrist does not provide therapy so your friend above doesn't know what she is talking about. Try Barbara Wagener843-856-6998. She is an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) at East Cooper Psychiatric Solutions and I highly recommend her.

I agree with Maureen but one thing I will say is you should see a woman therapist. Talk therapy is very good ....it does help.

I've been rather happy with Dr. Kollar of 1173 Southgate Dr in West Ashley. I've dealt with feelings of anxiety and depression in the past. I made it clear to Dr. Kollar that I wasn't interested in drugs. He offered me a solution that resolved negative "self-talk" through cognitive therapy. He also helped me improve my overall well-being through lifestyle changes. I've been depression-free for over 2 years now, and I contribute that to the concepts and methods introduced to me by Dr. Kollar. Everyone's situation is inherently different. I cannot say that mine would work for everybody else. But I would encourage anyone with problems to continue exploring solutions to help better themselves.

[this site](http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/?utm_source=PT_Psych_Today&utm_medium=House_Link&utm_campaign=PT_TopNavF_Therapist) has a search function, so you can find a therapist close to you, and one that caters to your particular needs. Also, you can filter by insurance companies as well (if that's important to you). This is how I found my therapist (who I can also recommend if you're interested). Hope this helps.

Apart from the vegan thing, for anyone without insurance, The Charleston Mental Health Clinic on Charlie Hall Blvd accepts patients on a sliding scale basis. You just have to produce an income statement (like this year's taxes), and depending on your situation, services may end up being free or practically free.
