Recommendations for nice cabins (with a hot tub!) or a bed and breakfast type place in the NC mountains?! Not too pricey! Brett and I are trying to plan a weekend...
Sierra J. replied:
http://www.linvilleriverlogcabins.com/nc-log-cabin-rentals.htm $135.00 per night, and then a one time $30.00 cleaning fee. It is only about 2 hours away.

Katie I know of some cabins in Cherokee, called Husky Cabin rentals. They aren't too pricy, I would look them up.

Katie the condo I stayed in this past weekend at Sugar Mountain was awesome. It was 2 br 2 bath. Nice and great view. Very inexpensive. Let me know if you want to look at it. I think it's available on that weekend

My husband and I were just there last weekend and we ate at The Laughing Seed cafe twice! VERY vegan friendly and it was delicious. One of the specials one day was a sweet potato and bean chili and it was so freaking good.

Hey Jewels, my hubby wants to take me to England/Scotland. Where is a good place to stay with the old feeling to it? I need help!
Jules E. replied:
Oh my goodness where to start! We have lots of "old feeling" places that are a dream to visit! Jane Austens Bath is amazing. Oxfords spires are epic. York dates back passed the Romans and still has its walls intact. London is expensive but full of history. Covent Garden in London is great. And you have all the usual tourist attractions. I could go on and on!! And on and on!!

I'm looking for information on an artist my mom knew named Charlotte Lance. I believe her daughter Barb was mayor of Holdrege for a time..and had a sort of B&B above...
Tom H. replied:
The cool apartment that Barb fixed up is located next to Hilsabeck Sporting Goods above what I remember was Pelz Hardware and later Illingworth Real Estate and Insurance and now Johnson insurance.
Mona P. replied:
I knew Charlotte Lantz. She was in my art guild and was a delightful person and a very talented artist. I loved visiting with her as she was extremely insightful. One thing I remember her saying, and I used it with my own kids a lot, was "If you are bored, it's your own fault!" She fell and broke her hip at one of our art guild meetings and her health went downhill from then on. I'm not sure when she died and I don't know where her daughter Barbara Lantz is now.
Roberta K. replied:
Barbara Lantz is no longer in the Holdrege area. She married and moved out of state in the last 10-15 years after she lived in the nice apartment above Hilsabeck's or close to that on East Avenue downtown. I'm not sure where she is now.
