Bonita with Bonita Travels did our Thailand trip and has done several others in the Caribbean for us. Was cheaper than what I could find booking myself, and she's been a family friend for many years.

We have always found it more pleasing to rent an apartment (vrbo.com), avoid tour groups, & plan on our own. When you "live like the natives", you really experience more of the actual culture. Also, you look less like the dreaded "tourist", & more like a seasoned traveller. Rick Steves' books are good--he took us to fantastic, family-owned, non-touristy restaurants. Good luck!

AAA does trip planning. I recently used airbnb.com to book my lodging for my upcoming trip to Ireland.
