Are there any half decent free DJ programs out there? My 13 yr old son wants to try his hand.

http://www.mixxx.org/ as suggested Alan. I've not looked at it for a while, but it's pretty well supported and runs on PC/Mac/Linux http://www.mixxx.org/features/

OTSAV offers a trial version. www.otsav.com definitely worth looking at. Wouldn't use anything else.
Does anyone use DJ Event planner? I'm trying to set up my free trial and have to confirm my email address but I have no email from them although I have requested one...

I am starting with DeckBooks Lee looks awesome with a great new update in the pipeline
Jason C. replied:
Mate- try both. I hear DJEP is under some good new development, but the back end is still very 1990 s - I hear that is changing. Deckbooks is pretty new, but is fully based in the UK. DeckBooks Lee has been pretty responsive to my comments. However, many people use DJEP so a bit more knowledge, I see Deckbooks as a bit more modern, but still missing some features that I need. (the main one being avail. checker that takes the date then requests more info if I'm free)
What's the best FREE dj-ing software for an absolute beginner?

Would agree with Glenn 100%. I own one as a practice and back up device. Great piece of kit. Back to main question, then I would also recommend Virtual DJ free edition:-)

OtsTurntables Free is another good tool, I loved OtsJuke when I first started out
