Can anyone recommend a good jeweler? I'm a college student and I'm looking to buy an engagement ring. I just don't know what places around have a good reputation and...

Goss on Gunbarrel is great. When I needed a ring appraised, everyone else wanted to keep it for 3 days. He did it on the spot in front if me. When my husband lost his wedding ring, he replaced it at cost. He made my wedding ring custom, offered to keep it in his safe while my fingers were swollen from pregnancy, etc. Serioualy great guy, great work - will never use anyone else.

Markman's over by Hamilton Place is the best (they also have a location in Knoxville). My family has been going to them for 30 years.

Not local, but bluenile.com is my recommendation. They provide better value than most local jewelers, especially on the diamond. They also have great customer service and are more than willing to educate you throughout the process. My wife had a setting in mind, so I bought my stone from Blue Nile and took it to a local jeweler to be placed in the setting. Was very pleased.

Just got a ring myself. Couple pointers I received that really paid off: go to a local store to check out, and get your hands on, what of the 4 C's. (Cut, carat, clarity, and color) she's gonna like. Then make that purchase online. Bluenile.com mentioned above is good. Also, if she is an artsy type or other, take a look at the vintage rings on Etsy.com Vintage rings are very one of a kind and drastically cheaper than new rings.

Costco. No Shit. Google Foo "Costco diamonds" All jewelers make you walk out thinking how GREAT they are because they saved you so much money by you spending twice as much as you planned. They are worse than used car dealers. Costco sells GIA appraised diamonds. That makes it possible to absolutely make apple to apple comparisons between their rings and local jeweler rings. Do NOT let anyone tell you otherwise. Period. I learned the hard way. My brother, tho, took my lesson this past Christmas. He found a ring at Costco he liked, got all the specs, shopped the same exact specs in a major northern city where he lives, The best quote he got from a Jeweler was $30k. He went with Costco at $21k (on his Skymiles AMEX). Remember, this WAS an apple to apple comparison. And they have a return policy.

I think I would pay $9000 to not have my wife tell everyone I got her ring at Costco. :) We like Kennedy Jewelers, but I'm thankful my wife isn't the expensive jewelry type.
I have an idea for the biggest give away ever for Image Photography... I need wedding professionals that are willing to sacrifice one event of service in order to create...

Wondering if anyone would offer their reviews/recommendations on running watches for a beginner runner.
Run C. replied:
Robin, if you post this in Run Chattanooga Connect, you'll get a lot more responses, we promise.:) Garmin Forerunner 10 is the one a lot of people start out with, or they just use an app on their cell phone. Just depends on what you plan to use the watch for. But definitely ask in the group and you'll get more detailed responses.:)
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Have a question concerning child care. Does anyone know someone that watches special needs children? Ideally I would like...
