For those who don't know: The Wilby class of 1969 was told (by the Waterbury School board) that we could not have a senior prom if we didn't have it at the Waverly Inn. ( They said Waverly Inn or nothing) SURE? Our entire class took a vote ...and chose NOT to have the official prom! Then our entire class voted to organize a private committee to plan " the prom" at the Park Plaza Hotel in New Haven. The students planned it, paid for it and attended it. The school board then tried to save face and gave their approval. Our Wilby class made history that year. It was a great class!
