Does anyone have a CBT-i therapist recommendation that takes Cigna? Just as I got off the waitlist at another provider, they stopped accepting my insurance. I struggle...

Call your insurance company and tell them your situation. Ask them to provide a list of in-network providers. When you contact the providers make sure you document if you are refused or given an unreasonable wait. If none of the providers accepts you as a patient, call your insurance and ask for a waiver to see an out of network provider. The insurance company will then usually confirm what you are telling them by contacting their in-network providers. If they get you in great. If they can't they will usually pay for an out of network provider.

How far are you willing to travel? I go to [NeuroPsych Wellness Center](https://www.neuropsych4 u.com/financing/) but it is all the way in Fairfax and they have a pretty strict attendance policy... they do accept Cigna though! ETA: I don’t know why I missed that you specifically said in the city. Apologies. I’ll leave this link though just in case :)

I went through this years ago and not in DC so unfortunately don't have any direct contacts. If you had sleep studies done in DC, are they able to refer you to a sleep psychologist? Otherwise perhaps contact GWU's [sleep disorder department](https://www.gwdocs.com/specialties/sleep-disorders/) or Google around for CBT-I and call individually.
I'm assuming you've tried having a strict sleep schedule, etc if you've continued to struggle over the years. That's ultimately what I learned from my sleep psychologist years ago but sometimes I'll get stressed/busy and go back to using meds as my crutch. I actually just fixed my sleep schedule a little more than a month ago and it's amazing, though it usually takes about 2 weeks of really shitty sleep in order to fix it (which is why I put off doing it, because it affects my day-to-day life, etc).
Insomnia really sucks, I've struggled with it for over 15 years. Hope you can get some help soon!

I have had insomnia, RLS and PLMD since birth. I highly recommend Dr Emsellem at the Center for Sleep and Wake disorders (sleepdoc.com). Sleep specific CBT was one of the options available. Be aware that many insurance companies view sleep medicine as "lifestyle medicine" and won't cover any treatment.

I recommend Dr. Gary Miller: [https://www.garymillermd.com/](https://www.garymillermd.com/) I saw him for a few months when I was experiencing severe insomnia. He recommended the SHUTi program (now called Somryst): [https://www.myshuti.com/](https://www.myshuti.com/)

This might not be too helpful, but I think a lot of insurances ask for sleep study results before they will cover any sleep issues. I would talk to a PCP and they might refer you to a sleep study lab so you can get referred to a therapist, maybe that would help in terms of getting coverage for what you need.

There are online programs for CBT-i as well, such as Sleepio, but there is generally a cost associated (but perhaps more affordable than an out-of-network therapist).
Can you Recommend a Doctor? Hi r/DC,

Washington Primary Care for GP at 660 Pennsylvania SE lower level. Dr. Ana Paunovic is really good, and they just got a new doctor, plus they a couple of others. They have a lab in the office, and if you need an X-ray or something, you can go to MedStar Prompt Care a block up 7th Street, and they’ll send the results to the GP since it’s the same network. I’ve found that to be helpful.
For eye doctor, I liked MyEyeDr at 3rd & Pennsylvania SE. I needed an ophthalmologist, so they referred me to Dr. Salim Butrus at 650 Pennsylvania SE (the old movie theater building). He did minor surgery on one of my eyes, and both he and his staff were great. I wasn’t thrilled about the needle and thread on my eyelid, so his assistant told me to squeeze her hand. (Good news: she regained feeling in that hand.) I now go there for all of my appointments.
Both of these are right near Eastern Market. I have Blue Cross insurance, which they take, and wait time for an appointment has been reasonable. I hope this helps!

I have always had a good experience at Eye Central at 635 Pennsylvania Ave SW. Plus if your work is around there, that's very good. Note that it's optometry and not any of the more specialized ones.

My wife goes to the capital women’s care in silver spring off colesville road. We’ve only dealt with the OB portion, but they have been extremely helpful and really listen. They partnered with maternal fetal medicine and have been doing a great job monitoring my wife’s EDS pregnancy.

Jennifer Lesko at GWU MFA. She specializes in patients with chronic illnesses. I really like her and feel like she is able to manage my situation pretty well. I have Lupus, Crohn's, and RA.

NOT Lori Picco at Cap Women's Care. I have some complications of my own, and she was absolutely trash to work with. Never knew my chart, spent bare minimum of time with me every visit despite long office waits. I don't know about the rest of the practice, but she's the worst OBGYN I've ever been to.

I see Dr Ronald Jacobs (Contemporary OB/GYN Associates), he always spends a lot of time with patients and is a great listener. He's pretty much the best doctor I've ever had overall. https://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Ronald_D_Jacobs.html
Can anyone recommend a sleep doctor in the city? I haven't slept for 7 hours straight in almost a year, it's time to see a doctor. Can anyone recommend one?

There’s a really good doctor right near Friendship Heights: https://www.sleepdoc.comDr. Emsellem is awesome and makes plenty of time to sit with you and talk at length. Although her office staff are frustratingly incompetent, and it’s expensive/hard to get an appointment.

I have recently seen Dr Karroum at GW Medical Faculty Associates over on 22 nd and I. He is a straight-laced, no-frills guy who specializes in neurological sleep disorders. He partners with a pulmonologist who is also great. I've seen them both and even after seeing doctors associated with other highly rated hostpitals, these two make a great team and I can't recommend them enough.

Me neither for several years. I just wake up to use the bathroom and then try to go back to sleep. Is it really something to see a doctor about?
