Anyone know a good neurologist? I need one quick. Hopefully on the Southside.

Dr. Arthur Itkin708/361-0222 He's on SW Highway next to HighTech Building -- My sister and I have seen him for years for migraines. Also, my friend sees him for her MS. I love him! Good Luck Laura!!

Christy K. replied:
Honestly, the best neurologist I know is Jean-Ronel Corbier, formerly of Concord, now right here in Charlotte. He just opened his appointments line today, and he 'll fill up quickly, so my advice is to book something with him today while you are deciding what to do, whom to see. You can always cancel later. Here's the number: 800-280-5625
Jena D. replied:
Dr Weissman at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta/Emory Children's Clinic is great! Our daughter has almost all the same diagnosis as your son ;)
Maureen Z. replied:
I also hear Dr Carson is retiring. Isn't he a neurosurgeon? Many good ones in NYC that we use!
Lee C. replied:
Sadly Dr. Carson is retiring.
Pam S. replied:
Have you looked at John Hopkins in Baltimore Maryland
Neelam S. replied:
Amber Greenawalt is in Charlotte too and might have some recommendations for you. I remember reading her post praising one of her doctors. Another friend of mine Christy Maney Koury is again very kind and helpful and is again from Charlotte and she might also be able to help you. Christy and Amber, sorry I took the liberty of tagging you here. Would you please guide her.
Ali L. replied:
Where are you located? Dr.Parvez at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Westchester NY is AMAZING!!!
Heather G. replied:
We have gone w CHOP (Pennsylvania), John Hopkins, and the Cleveland clinic. All are wonderful! We go to Dr. Ilo Lepik at MINCEP (Minnesota) now and LOVE him. He helped invent diastat and is world renowned. Hope you are able to find the perfect fit for you. Sending prayers...
Heather H. replied:
My son goes to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He has a a very rare.chromosome disorder and they have been wonderful with him:)
Elit K. replied:
I highly recommend Dr Abba Cargan in NJ. He was at Columbia in NYC for many years until he decided to go into private practice closer to home. My daughter has a long list similar to yours and he is the third neuro we met with and finally clicked with.
Pamela B. replied:
Agree!! We also loved Dr. Cargan while we lived up north!!
Joi S. replied:
I didn't know Dr. Carson retired - it's been about a year since I have been to Baltimore/Johns Hopkins. That's a shame, but a doctor who trained under him would certainly be the next best thing!
Naomi D. replied:
Cincinnati children's hospital We see Dr Franz he is hard to get into I just made an appointment and next available was October
Kristen L. replied:
I hear amazing things about pedi neuro at Mass General in Boston.
Melissa G. replied:
Dr. Barbara Weissman in Atlanta area. My daughter sees her at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta but she travels to other sites, as well. She only sees kids with complex cases. Your pediatrician will have to refer your child, send all medical records and wait to see if she will take your child. She just doesn't see kids without complex medical problems. I love her.
Catherine G. replied:
Children's hospital of Philadelphia & look into Cleveland Clinic.
Amanda K. replied:
Nemours Alfred I Dupont in DE is amazing. There is one in FL too. Aris neuro is steven gottlieb
Joi S. replied:
Dr Ben Carson at Johns Hopkins is world renowned neurologist at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD. He is literally as good as it gets. I travel to Johns Hopkins for my daughters liver disease and stay at the Ronald McDonald house when I go and have met parents/patients of Dr Carson - he is very personable and he never gives up! He had written multiple books heck there is even a movie about him!:-)
Juniper T. replied:
I'll chime in with recommendation for CHOP in Philadelphia. Dr. Clancy and Dr. Bergqvist are both awesome, but anyone in the neuro department is good.
Jackie H. replied:
Dr. Ben Carson retired last yr and is not seeing new patients. He is a neurosurgeon. If that is what you are looking for Dr Storm of CHOP is the next best thing. Dr Carson trained him.

Meghan M. replied:
Baylor Dallas. I saw a two neuros they sort of team up. Call them see if you need a referral and I guess just tell them I told you about them. I feel they are amazing so far... They aren't afraid to jump in and "fix" us. http://www.headaches.org/physicians/george-nissan-do
Sheila R. replied:
I don't mind going to Dallas if I can get "fixed"!! I have an apt with Dr Friedman but not till May .. it's just so frustrating. .
Anyone know of a good pediatric neurologist affiliated w a good hospital in Illinois
Cheri G. replied:
You most likey are going to be in that exact same boat if you go with a new nuro. Try calling Lurie and see if any are seeing any new patients for neurology in Dec. 800-kids doc (1.800.543.7362 ) Registration will tell you right away if anyone has Dec appts they will ask about your referral. Nuro has about 18 on site docs, but doesn't guarantee an appt soon. We had a referral from a 2 Lurie docs for our new nuro and had to wait 2 months. It doesn't hurt to call.
