I used ABC Humane Wildlife Control. 847-870-7175. I had a squirrel family living between my floors in the two flat. I spent about $600 but they removed the critters and sealed the hole against future freeloaders.

It could possibly be because it is getting cooler out, they are looking for a warm place to stay. When I was having a rat problem in my basement (they dug a hole through the concrete & up my water pipe from sewer) I called Pest Control Chicagoland. They came out, gave us a free estimate & they even have a deal on yelp you can use. Not sure if they do outside work like that, but worth a call.
