Hey girls :) A really good friend of mine has started an in-home daycare and would like to be able to wear a baby that she cares for. A lady she spoke to with Community...

Found this: The skin-to-skin contact will help the baby to keep an even temperature. If the baby is cold, the mother’s chest is a shield area that can heat up to warm her baby, or cool if her baby is too hot(13). The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) of the mother and baby coordinate to establish healthy and stable set points of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate and glucose(2). This allows the baby to “self-regulate” better when stressful events rock his equilibrium. But until the baby has established those set points he needs the “buffering protection of adult support”(14). In the absence of this support, metabolic set points may not be properly established and this can increase problems of hypertension, obesity and diabetes in later life(15). Found that, with sources on this site http://www.kangaroomothercare.com/jill-articles.aspx Since the baby and the caregiver are both wrapped up together, I think that, unless the baby was dressed in much heavier clothing, they would both get too hot at the same time, allowing for the wearer to make adjustments as needed.

I have worked at Bright Beginnings since the day we opened 12 years ago plus I don't know you personally but I know most of your family. .plus I work in the baby room and would give your baby tons of love.
Tia T. replied:
You can get 6 weeks FMLA. I would use that time to take your baby to centers or even LISCENSED family child care homes (I know it sounds scary but I had better experience with a licensed home than a licensed center and some of them have more flexible scheduling). It is really great to have time to visit and talk with the provider before and after the baby is born... I knew the family provider that I chose was right for my daughter when I could see how comfortable my daughter was with her (at 3 months old). Trust your gut and make a choice you feel comfortable with. That is the important thing. Always talk about what you can do if you aren't comfortable... notice required, ect... Valley Oaks used to provide information/support in helping decide. It is such a scary thing! If you work at a Care Facility it is licensed through Community Care Licensing...
Tia T. replied:
Valley Oaks Children's Services can give you a referral list of licensed providers in the area. Community Care Licensing can give you information regarding past complaints and or deficiencies within the program. There are some really great providers in the area and you should be able to go to the program and visit with the staff BEFORE you choose.

Chico Christian is very cautious about food allergies and they are absolutely wonderful! Even kids with nut allergies aren't allowed to sit next to another kid eating peanut butter. And if they get it on their clothes, they have the kids change to be cautious of others allergies. They are wonderful!
