Rosemary Burrows is right. It must be a tire pressure sensor. I have never heard of a vehicle that tells you when to change your tires.

The cheapest way is to buy the rims; it's a small investment at first but saves time and money in the long run. I had my winter rims changed at Big O Tires in Chilliwack yesterday, it took 20 min and I only paid $22. Also they only charge $80 for a full year of storage.

Kens Tire And Wheel is wonderful - he loaned me a rim a week or two ago when I cracked mine driving on a flat while it was sent out to get fixed - and putting on my snow tires was about 1/2 of the price I paid at Canadian Tire last year
