Hi, can anyone recommend an optometrist for an child's eye test please? Local would be good but great manner with kids most important. Thanks
Nicola A. replied:
Have heard Anstice and Assoc are amazing with kids... Not local but highly recommended.
Anita H. replied:
def Anstice. They do a really good 'developmental' check on kids that includes looking at their tracking for reading (amongst other things), they do heaps of kids. The other good one is Dunlop & Associates.
Tanya R. replied:
Dharshie at Anstice & Associates is the best!
Melanie O. replied:
I have two daughters who wear specs. Their optometrist is David Hooker. He's based at Specsavers Windmill Center now, but worked for Dunlops before the quakes and then Anstice. He has an excellent reputation, is very thorough, and great with kids. As mentioned, Specsavers do free eye tests for kids. The option of having two pairs of glasses for kids is really handy - especially when they're little. Good luck.:)
Julie H. replied:
Windmill Centre Spec Savers is great
Saara H. replied:
Yes I'd recommend Windmill Specsavers - great with my son and their checks are just as good as any other optometrist I've been to. Low prices and great service - it IS possible to get both!
Rochelle E. replied:
Me!!! I am a local parent and own Barrington Eye Care in the Barrington Medical Centre. If you have a community services card it is covered by the Enable Subsidy for children under 16. I have three kids myself (2 at Beckenham School) so I can relate well to them. Feel free to ask me any questions.
Jan H. replied:
Yep. Anstice and Assoc. Dhaareshi is excellent with kids

Above, The Childrens Specialist, Highly Recommend:)
Catherine B. replied:
Absolutely 100% recommend going to The Children 's Specialist Centre in Colombo St before going anywhere else. They have a free drop on clinic 2 days a week. They will tell you if you need further assessment. They are amazing abd so good with kids-and free!
