Fort Sanders Ob-gyn
rbirming replied:
Just had a baby, and am also currently doing my OBGYN rotation for PA school so I feel like I have some decent insight into this. Fort Sanders, like so many have recommended, is a great facility for a few reasons: it has its own nicu, great or, etc. It is also across the street from Children's hospital, where there is a neonatologist available 24/7. So it's a great option. UT is also good, with all the bells and whistles, although it is a teaching hospital (both a pro and a con). That being said, I cannot recommend Dr. Dana Teagarden enough; she delivered our baby (VERY difficult pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum situation), and I would choose her again in a heartbeat. She is incredible. (I'm saying all this even though she doesn't let male students rotate with her!) Her main office is at Turkey Creek, but IIRC she is moving it to Old St. Marys (the hospital right off Broadway). Tennova is a covenant hospital, so she should also have rights at Ft Sanders, etc

Dr fields I think he's at fort Sanders now. He was the Dr for both if my son's.

My wife is 39 weeks right now, and we have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Vick at the Nancy Vick Center for Women. She's been going to him ever since she's had an Ob/Gyn and he's a really fantastic person. He delivers at Physicians Regional, which is the Tennova facility near you. If your wife is comfortable with a male, I can't recommend him enough. He also has a female practitioner who is pretty great.
mellobeth replied:
I had my first at UT and saw Dr. Natalie Blache. Not everybody loves her matter of fact personality, but I think she's awesome. I'd be her real live friend. I've loved everyone I've encountered in that practice. My L&D experience was spectacular. Honestly, my only complaint is the view from my room sucked. The nurses were incredible and we were VERY well taken care of. We're having our second baby at UT with Dr. Blache in September!
FreezeFrameEnding replied:
Dr. Pierce at Ft Sanders. He saved both me and my mom, among countless others. He truly cares about his patients, and their offices are always quick to respond if you call in with questions.
tyedyehippy replied:
I delivered my son at the downtown Fort Sanders hospital last year & if I had to do it all again I'd deliver there again in a heartbeat. The nurses were fantastic, the hospital was fantastic. Even the food was good! (Seriously!!) The OB I went to was the Fort Sanders Perinatal Center, they were pretty good. Whatever practice you end up choosing, as long as she ends up delivering at Fort Sanders, she should be in good hands!
Mattgoof replied:
We had a great experience at Baby + Co, although for some reason they just closed. I heard that the midwifes are trying to work out a deal with UT and, if they can, that should create a place where you can combine the casual setting of a birth center with ready access to emergency services.

I wasn’t satisfied with my UT Medical Center experience. To me, every appointment felt impersonal and rushed. I transferred at 7 months or so along to Generations OB-GYN at Parkwest and never looked back. It was a really great experience—I had Dr. Greene and loved her.

I’m 8 months and have had a great prenatal experience with Dr. Johnson through UT Medical Center. Cannot speak to birthing experience as this is my first, but my husband and I feel at ease. Best of luck to you and your growing family!

Park West.
BenchMarkAB replied:
We are at Parkwest and our Dr. is Dr. Yang. My wife’s last pregnancy she had high blood pressure and her doctor at that time (Parkwest woman’s?) told her there was nothing they could do but keep her eye on her and have my wife visit once every two weeks. We changed and met with Dr. Yang and she recommended baby aspirin to her and my wife’s blood pressure is just fine. Parkwest woman’s also suggested my wife have a C-section but we met with Dr. Yang right before she went into labor at Parkwest hospital and she suggested not going through with the procedure and it wasn’t necessary. Little advice like that meant the world to my wife and I.
Recommendations for a great health and wellness doctor in the area, please.

I see Dr. Steves. I really like his approach. My grandmother had 7 kids & no $ for doctors. She treated everything herself. Her traditions were handed down to us partially as real remedy, and partially as "aren't you glad we don't...." Dr. Steves has asked more than once, "how would your grandmother treat that?" After I tell him, he says, "do that. Granny knows best."
Ok I'm reaching out to our family......does anyone know of a clinic that i could take Maggie too for her back? Our doctor won't see us bc we don't have anykind of...

Stephanie S. replied:
There is a place called OSMC, I think, that might be able to take a look. They do a lot of physical and occupational therapy, but I'm not sure what kind of payment plan they might be able to set up. Maybe call and ask first? Otherwise, the Elkhart Clinic isn't too bad and I think they offer cash discounts if you have no insurance.

Dr Anderson at premier. He has been my dr for my last two pregnancies. In 2010 and 2015. I did have c sections. They were my 3 rd and 4 th sections. He is wonderful and so is his nurse Emily. Gateway was awesome with both stays. I never had one issue there. And they were awesome about breastfeeding. Also had skin to skin and nursed my baby right after she came out in the or during my c section.
