I'd recommend the guy I recently used in the strongest possible terms - William Stone Home Inspections. He's a former president of the local chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors, and did an incredibly thorough, high-quality inspection of the home we ultimately bought. I've also referred him to a friend who was looking at a freshly renovated house, and Bill found a ton of illegal, substandard work that led to my friend backing out of his deal. I'd absolutely use his company again anytime.

Mark's Home Inspection Service in Solon seemed really good. Craig (his dad Mark founded the company) has done 2 home inspections for me and helped me get out of the contract on the first one. He knew his stuff, explained things well, was a bit of a nerd, and happily crawled on a dirty shelf to check the basement wall behind. He does home and radon, and subs out the pest to a certified pest person. The selling agent on the deal that fell through thought he was terrible and actually told me that she steers clients away from his services. I later learned that she had several deals that fell through thanks to his inspections.

My wife and I just bought a house in Mentor. We did the inspection back in October with Heart and Home Inspection. It was only $325 for the basic inspection. We didn't do pest or radon. You can do a radon test yourself for like $20 or something. They send you a test kit in the mail and you leave it in the basement for a week.

Joe Lengel, Advantage Home Services. Inspected our non air conditioning home in shaker heights in August a couple years ago. I’d like to say it was quick but the man was VERY thorough and helping during the entire process.

I used PRC Home Inspections. They're based out of Solon and do *fantastic* work. Not the cheapest, but the home inspection is probably one of the most important parts of buying a home and somewhere I think nobody should skimp out on. PRC did a full test including radon and offer additional inspections such as mold, insect, etc. as needed. The inspector I had (believe his name was Scott) was really great to talk to and answered all my questions as they came up. What was most impressive was that they use iPads to photograph, annotate, and compile the inspection results. Then they're able to provide you with a fully indexed and searchable PDF that contains all their findings with photographs of the findings, as well as their recommended corrections. Was really impressed with the level of service, thoroughness, and results that were given to me. Definitely recommend them.
okay local realtors, particularly westsiders, any recommendations on a home inspector? for a friend not me.

We recently had Ken's mother's house inspected and we really liked him. His name is Greg Kolar. He is a certified home inspector and I assume he works places other than Euclid. He is with Keystone Home Inspection. His number is 216-469-8600.
