Welcome to Alexandria! I'm sure you'll love living here! We've been here 20+ yrs. My children are older, but we use Eric Yorke from Somerset Peds. Just love him!

Welcome to the township! Hunterdon Pediatrics has been wonderful. Check with the schools regarding aftercare. Lester D. Wilson has full day preschool and aftercare through Work Family Connection. http://www.alexandriaschools.org/Page/2115

Welcome to Alexandria! I am a Hunterdon County native and would not want to raise my kids anywhere else! I worked for Hunterdon Pediatrics for 10 years. They are great but it is a big practice. There are a lot of family practice groups around also. My kids are older now and I used Monday Mornings Inc. They have stay-at-home moms all over the county who will care for your kids in their homes. Mine was a mile from my house and the kids got the bus in front of her house. Worked great for me. Not very familiar with camps around here. We did specific camps like horse camp, band camp, etc... Good Luck!

I adore our family doctor Martin Klein at Riverfield Family Practice at the health campus on 31 in Clinton. (908) 735-4645 My son is 3 and just started at Secret Garden Montessori in Frenchtown. Amazing people there! They'll be running a summer program as well; I'm not sure if it'd just accommodate your younger child though. It's all worth checking out though right? (908) 628-9639 I too bring our pets to Dr. Ross at Clinton-Perryville. He's so kind. Welcome! Good luck!

Dr. Klein also has an interest in sports medicine, a bonus if you are active.

At 15 and 13 we're still using Hunterdon Pediatrics. They are open 365 days a year! Best decisions I ever made? Dr. Discafani- Hampton Animal Hospital (honest, compassionate and reasonable) Private swim lessons with Jim Swain in Flemington. Ice skating lessons at Aspen Ice also in Flemington and either the sports or music programs (wherever your kids have an interest.)
Laura B. replied:
Forgot the pets! I really like Animal Hospital of Clinton-Perryville. http://www.animalhospitalofclinton.com

Oh, I forgot to mention Healthquest. It's a family fitness center in Flemington, at the corner of 31 and Cherryville Rd. They have a lot of programs for adults, but they have a TON of activities for kids that are included in your monthly fee - dance, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, karate, recreational swim, etc. and other programs for a fee - swimming lessons, cheer, etc. They also do birthday parties and Kids Night Out every Saturday night. It runs from (I think) 6:30-10, and you can choose a Saturday for free once a month (it's $25/kid other weeks, I think). I know a LOT of local families who belong there. After a few months of living here, your car will know how to get to Flemington, Clinton and P'burg on autopilot, lol.

Would highly recommend "Little angels" preschool on Route 12, Frenchtown? I would also suggest Dr. Discafani in Hampton, very reasonable, great guy.

I have 3 boys under 7. We love Hunterdon Pediatrics. They have several offices. All the doctors are great. We use Paw Prints Vet (Maryann Milford) in Flemington...she is amazing (908) 824-7606. There are a bunch of summer camps. We like the Roving Nature Center Camp that is held in Frenchtown. It's 1/2 day week long programs. Best of luck on your move. Alexandria is a great place to live.

Welcome to the township! I, too, have an eight- (soon-to-be-9)-year old. Babysitters are a little hard to find if you don't know people with older kids, but I found a few good ones through sittercity.com. I take my kids to Hunterdon Pediatric Associ ates, which is a huge pediatric practice with something like 4 offices, but I'd be hesitant to recommend one particular doctor since they are all so different, and you may hate someone I love and vice-versa. I've been sending my kids to Camp Winnewald for the past few years and we LOVE it. It's been around for over 60 years, the owner/director has been around for (I think) most of those 60 years, and the counselors are well-trained and a bit more mature than you'll find at your average day camp. It's very old-fashioned, with lots of swimming (twice a day), crafts, nature, outdoors, music, etc.

You will love Alexandria Twshp! I grew up there and am currently living in Holland Twshp. Love the area! Annandale Family Practice (Dr. Theresa Sacchieri) is the BEST for you and baby/kids. HIGHLY recommend!
Sheryl L. replied:
oops...@Lisa Gitnik Engelhardt I looked at Winnewald and it looks like we would love it, but my little guy is a year to young, was looking at YMCA Camp Carr for this summer....any word on that? It also looks very traditional and super tiring! So tough when you need full day.

Www.northwest-jersey.macaronikid.com has resources for families in Hunterdon It's free and we will have info on summer camps soon!
Looking for info on Summer Camps in the Alexandria Twp/Milford/Pittstown/Holland Twp area for a 6 year old. I know a little about Riegel Ridge and a little about...
Karen D. replied:
Not sure if it's in your range...Hunterdon Museum of Art in Clinton runs a nice summer program. All classes are taught by adults who are experts in their field. I taught for MANY summers...small classes...lots of options.
Jennifer L. replied:
The YMCA Camp will bus the children. I live in Kingwood and they pick up right at Kingwood school and drop them off there in the afternoon when camp is over.
