Have you tried a probiotic formulated for dogs? Especially after being on an antibiotic these conditions can be exacerbated. Helping with gut flora can make these things a lot more manageable or even get rid of symptoms. I get mine from mercola.com but I'm sure there are other good ones out there. Best of luck!!

HELP!!! We are needing a cheap or affordable vet in Jeff City to get my dogs there vaccinations. Most places have pet visit fees...is there any where in town that...
Erin G. replied:
Quail Valley is where I've always taken mine. They seem to be the most reasonably priced to me. Otherwise, there is a mobile vet that goes out to Tractor Supply once a month that's pretty cheap.
I price checked and for YEARS have used Quail Valley; love Dr. Brian. I prefer a vet to know my "kids" and also available in an emergency! They are the most reasonable by far. Also, it depends on the shots you get; Rabies is a must per the law but the others are not; however, I do them all but bordetella since mine are not boarded or around other dogs PLUS, a big plus, have them explain about that injection...I found it very interesting. I have been doing a lot of reading about ALL vacs lasting much, much longer than a year and next time plan to discuss with Dr. Brian as to the need...I always trust and go by his opinion and reasoning!

Dr Steck although having a Centertown address takes less than 15 minutes from JC I used him for years

Quail Valley is the best.

Eldon Spay and Neuter Clinic gives vacinations on Friday afternoons I think.
The JC animal shelter doesn't do any services for the public. The Spay Neuter Project in Columbia regularly has low cost vaccination clinics, the next one is Saturday. Get the info on their page under events. .. https://m.facebook.com/SpayNeuterProject

I'm thinking I saw that they did cheap shots at Tractor Supply on certain dates. Not sure which all they do though.
I've been going to All Creatures Animal Hospital for over 15 years and love the staff. Dr. Motley is super wonderful and very honest.
Beth R. replied:
Frank Quattrocchi at Claws n Paws. Home visit vet. Super guy and very affordable.
Mandy S. replied:
I second All Creatures Animal Hospital! They are the best and Dr. Christy always takes as much time as we need to answer all of my questions and has a great "bedside" manner with Trixie.
Cara J. replied:
I like the people at Noah's Ark, they are inexpensive and conservative with treatments. Basically don't pressure me to do a zillion tests and give a lot of meds but I have only dealt with Dr. Greg with my birds. I haven't taken my cats there yet, but I will when it is time. Plus they only charge one office visit fee no matter how many animals you bring, so 2 cats would be $30 plus the cost of shots and the like. 5 birds is sometimes just $30 if there are no treatments or tests, just exams. I did have an irritating incident but it was with a different vet likely specific to birds.

I agree with Mandy Sims on this one - All Creatures is great! Otto has been seen by both vets there - they are great communicators (Dr. Motley even has a whiteboard he uses to explain things!) and very affordable.

I use Omega Magic for my dogs arthritis and in 2 years I have noticed an improvement (rather than deterioration) in her joints with no other medication. It is an oil that you can get from the pet shop or vet and add to his food. I also feed her sardines and dog bics that have omegas in them. You can also get joint supplements from the pet shop or vet.

I'm not sure how far you're willing to travel to a barn, but I can highly recommend Arrowhead Creek Stables, LLC (located about 30 miles from Mizzou) for it's customized care of each individual horse. Additionally, William Woods has a list of local boarding facilities (http://www.williamwoods.edu/academics/undergraduate/programs_and_degrees/equestrian/docs/local_boarding.pdf): although many of these may be closer to Fulton than Columbia. The list is not 100% up to date, but it may give you a place to start. There are also many great barns in Columbia, I'm sure other members of this group will have some good suggestions!:)

Vet recommendations that can do STL City licensure?
Mandi B. replied:
We like Webster Animal Hospital.
Randall C. replied:
We also go to Webster Groves Animal Hospital.
Carla D. replied:
We use Webster Groves Animal Hospital mainly because they have a decently priced yearly shots package that I have shopped around and it was considerably more expensive other places. We have gone there for some slight emergency type stuff and had a less than positive experience with the random doctor - it was a man, don't remember his name but Dr. Fee is the vet we request on appointments. I love her, so nice. I have friends who go to the Macklind Humane Society and like that too.
Does anyone have a vet they recommend that they use for their furry friend?
Kim B. replied:
Noahs Ark for sure! If you take them for shots there is no visit fee as long as they are healthy enough to give them. Most places charge a visit fee no matter what. Also, spay/neuter at the humane society for $30. Just make sure to make an appointment.
