I've put four kids through the school system here, two with high functioning autism, one with anxiety disorder.... I have experienced the gauntlet.... What you need to do is find houses in your price point, find the school district, go to the schoo l boards page where they are mandated to report number of students per classroom, how the school scores on statewide assessment tests. Check the police departments crime statistics. I also went back to college to finish my undergrad psych degree and graduate autism specialist upper grad studies. I can not recommended derby Ridge, parkade, two mile Prarie, or Benton. Cedar Ridge was pretty good, but there's been so much building out that way I would think it's about to burst. Shepard is always great, Mill Creek, fairview, Grant, Russell, Lee. I don't remember all the names anymore, but basically the more South and West you go the better the atmosphere is for the kids. The lower income area schools unfortunately often have more behavioral issues. Jeff Jr had excellent guidance staff but we had one stinker teacher. It's really hard to judge a school by the few teachers we encounter through our kids... That's why studying the environmental factors ie. Income areas the students are drawn from, the crime rates, get the boundaries of the school of the house you are considering and drive the neighborhoods and see what vibes you get. The kids who do a lot to influence how effective teachers can be will be coming from within those boundaries. The other thing we always, always checked was what registered sex offenders were in that area.
