Midwood Smokehouse on central ave in Charlotte or also now in ballantyne is by far the best we've found since we lived in Texas!
This will be a little bit of a drive, about 40 minutes from here. It's "all you can eat" buffet. It's a quintessential "fish camp"... out in the country, off the beaten path, rambling structure with huge dining room and rows of oil cloth covered tables and ladder back chairs.. Waitresses refill beverages & remove plates. Friendly. Efficient. It's been awhile since we went so check the menu online but it was $10 incl. drink...They serve a huge selection of fried seafood, replenish it often so it's fresh, not soggy. They offer baked flounder, & a huge selection of southern foods like fried chicken livers, meatloaf, country ham, pork chops, chicken tenders, baked chicken, fried chicken, dozens of vegetables, dozens of salads, several desserts like 2 or 3 flavors of cobblers, banana pudding, vanilla & chocolate pudding, cakes, self-serve soft ice cream and lots of toppings. It's more than you can eat. Jay's Seafood Restaurant Inc 40439 Stony Gap Rd, Albemarle, NC 28001 (704) 982-5814 https://g.co/kgs/ia577W

Although I'm a staunch supporter of Wayne Monk and his family at Lexington Barbecue there are two other places that deserve to be mentioned, one still around and one long gone. Warner Stamey is widely know as the father of Lexington Style BBQ. Of the 10 or so que joints in Lexington most all have someone cooking the pig that learned from Stamey, or learned from someone who learned from Stamey. Stamey's is still in business with two locations in Greensboro. I eat there every chance I get. My other fave, long closed was Papa Doc's Pig Palace in Charlotte in the 80's.

Gianni's Trattoria, Union Street, Concord .. also along Union Street: Mekong Thai, Havana Carolina, 2Gals Kitchen (and Sweet Life Bakery inside), Chez Francois -- good variety along the one street in downtown Concord. There are more but that's a good start. Check out reviews on TripAdvisor.com Also go to each's web site and check out menus.

Totally depends on what degree of food loving you are! I don't particularly care for chains or franchises. Captain Steve is delicious, and priced very reasonably, and I don't really like much seafood! Harrisburg Family Restaurant is local good home cooking, and there are a few Mexican, Chinese, and Pizza Places. I usually like to venture into Charlotte, because I really like to discover new food all of the time. The city is totally limitless!
