Keep a close eye on your dog. Any major water will have alligators.

Good luck at such a late date. But check out the Corp of Engineer parks near Jasper - lake Steinhagen (Sandy Creek is one of the parks) and Lake Sam Rayburn has a couple. They do have RVs, but tents are common.

Yes, [this](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lone+Star+Trail+Trailhead+%236/@30.5313066,-95.6262134,16 z/data=!4 m12!1 m6!3 m5!1 s0 x8647145958 de7519:0 x4 c98 a8150677 d3 ca!2 sSam+Houston+National+Forest!8 m2!3 d30.5294799!4 d-95.5346377!3 m4!1 s0 x0:0 xc92 b05 e274775 bca!8 m2!3 d30.5279841!4 d-95.6298521) is the trailhead I like to park at, and then take the trail up to the lake. It's a short hike and the area is cleared, great for dogs, setting up camp, and fishing. Usually there are a couple more people so if you're looking for seclusion just keep on up the trail and you'll find it. Hope this is helpful!

Boykin Springs near Zavalla looks pretty neat. I’ve been wanting to go. It doesn’t seem like a popular destination so I doubt you’ll see many RVs. There’s an old abandoned sawmill that’s a 2 mile hike from camp.

I've heard wonderful things about The Academy of Living Literacy, but I would also recommend Church of Reconciliation & First Baptist! The Summer camps that my friends recommended were the YMCA & AOD.: )

YMCA has a great summer camp going on and you can sign up your kids any day before the week you decide to take them. They're summer camps are at the YMCA and also at John Paul High School. They also have a weekly field trip on Thursdays.
