That I'm aware of, the are no actual pediatric doctors in the Valley. There are ophthalmologists who do see children, obviously. Closest pediatric ophthalmologists is Dr. Bishop in Corpus and he's excellent.

I highly recommend Dr. Bishop in Corpus. My daughter has been his pacient since she was 18 months old. She is now 4 and we still go see him. Took her to a Dr. here in B'ville and she was not patient at all when my daughter began to cry during the exam. Dr. Bishop specializes in children and has toys/stickers/ puppets to make kids feel comfortable during exams and he is very patient. He has a web site with his info.

Thanks everyone! Y'all just reassured me that I was right about Dr. Bishop! He saw her when she was about 2 years old & gave us excellent results after her surgery! Dr here refuses to operate on her and wanted to see if there was any other options in the Valley.. guess not! I'll be scheduling her appointment on Monday! (:

I go to Dr. Avet, M.D. He is in the medical office building next to Doctors' Hospital on Alameda. He is a wonderful doctor. He performed successful cataract surgery on Earl, and everything was fine.

Dr Hunsaker or Dr Bishop. I have had five eye surgeries in my life and I completely trust Dr Bishop but not sure if he is accepting new adult patients. Dr Hunsaker is his partner and treats my mom and in laws. If you do not have extenuating issues that are uncommon there is no need to go to Houston. I had a few friends who did go to Houston, thinking anyone there was better than here, and they ended up having repairs after cataract surgery. Do not go to Dugan!
