Looking for recommendations for Roofers/Contractors they have a good relationship with? My house didn't even have an indoor kitchen until the '70s. I've been dealing...

If those guys are trying to sell you a new roof it maybe because you need a new roof.
Once a roof gets too old you cannot separate the shingles and they just start to fall apart in your hand whenever you try to do patchwork. You can intend to pull up 50 sf and the shingles just keep crumbling and falling apart until you pull up like 600 sf. That means you still want to pay for 50sf and the contractor is going.l to want to get paid for 600 sf since that’s what needs to be replaced.
I am a GC and I’ve got a roofer thats worked for me for almost 10 years. I will come and take a look and I will do a patch job for you but I will make you sign something that says if it continues to leak I’m not liable and that my work includes only as many sq ft as my bid form includes. No company with a license or insurance is going to risk it. If you’d still like to proceed with finding someone to do just a cheap patch, you need to find an unlicensed, uninsured roofer and be prepared to deal with the consequences of that.
Sorry to be blunt. Don’t mean to sound rude, but you clearly have a problem that’s only going to get worse until you handle it correctly.

Get a new roof. And remember to have them install actual L flashing at the edges, and not just run the shingles into the gutter. I use Titian roofing. Not cheap, but actually show up and can knock out a roof in a day.
