What type of massage would anyone recommend for a trapped nerve in the shoulders and major tension in that area ?

Also sometimes it's an issue of nourishment or calming of the nerve rather than entrapment, in which case manual lymph drainage type techniques are in order. If the nerve is irritated at a site, whaling away at the site with typical aggressive "deep tissue" techniques will make things WORSE. Being able to work indirectly is an important skill for dealing with problems of this type.
