Hi, we are new to the area and just wondering if anyone has any opinions about the vets in the area. Our cats have a good vet in Dartmouth, but they really hate the car....

Dr weste is great and shes slightly cheaper than anywhere else but i was far more impressed with complete care Dr Larkin and her staff, they are great with my animals and my children who are always full of questions lol
David C. replied:
I only have experience with the Porters Lake clinic. They've always been great with my animals. However I've talked to coworkers about similar services elsewhere like somewhere in the South Shore, and they pay a small fraction of what I've paid locally and in Dartmouth.

I'm a regular at Dartmouth Veterinary Clinic and I've never had an issue with them and they always treat me well. Dr Barry, who used to be at Dartmouth now has his own clinic in Burnside. He's the bomb. I also took one of my guys to Lady Hammond on a weekend when my vet was closed and they were lovely as well, and seemed cheaper than my usual vet.

I would make sure the cat has not only been through an accredited dental program but is also a member of the Canadian Dental Association

http://burnsidevet.ca/ Dr. Haley Inkpen is who operated on our dog.
patchgrabber replied:
Sounds like they just need some teeth pulled. That's costly no matter what because you don't have Nova Scotia Health subsidizing things like anaesthesia, which is crazy expensive. But tooth extractions are pretty standard fare usually so I don't think you need a specialized vet for that so any reputable clinic would do.
