Looking for a realtor Hi all,
In about two months I will be relocating with my wife and our two cats to the states from half way around the world. I thought about...

I found my most recent place near Davis through John Lowenstein at Red Line Real Estate, and AFAIK he's the sole employee there. He definitely does things differently and might not be a great fit for you if you're looking from afar as he's old school. I'd always ask him to send me info and he never would instead insisting that I come in as anything he sent would likely be gone by the time I reviewed the listing. If you're going to be in town and can deal with someone a bit quirky (he will also try to steer you out into Arlington to save money), I'd highly recommend. He found me the place I currently reside and when I heard the price I thought it was a joke and going to be a dump but alas I'm saving $500/month off my previous place (in the city, but still) and it's working out great so far. tl;dr - John Lowenstein at Red Line Real Estate is a bit odd but gets the job done if you visit in person. http://www.yelp.com/biz/red-line-real-estate-somerville

You could try Maxwell Green apartments, they're new, kinda on the pricy side, but allow pets and great location on the bike path to Davis sq. I think they offer flexible leases- might be hard to find a good place at this time of year especially from far away, so it could be a good back up, even if just temporary. http://www.windsoratmaxwellsgreen.com

My wife and I worked with [John Barmon](https://www.coldwellbankerhomes.com/ma/cambridge/agent/john-barmon/aid_6037/) and [Travers Peterson](https://www.coldwellbankerhomes.com/ma/cambridge/agent/travers-peterson/aid_40653/) from Coldwell Banker on Mass Ave in Cambridge. They know the area really well. I've referred them to several other people who have also had great experiences with them.

[Apartment Rental Experts](http://www.apartmentrentalexperts.com) are OK if you're on a budget (I've used them) but they are in the volume business, so you don't get a ton of customer service. I also worked with [Boston Rental Exchange](http://www.bostonrentalexchange.com/) who were much more responsive but mostly showed me places that were at the top of or higher than my price range. What is your budget? I have a 2 bedroom on Somerville Ave for $1700. I work for the owner but am not a broker, so no fee and no security deposit.
