Question... does anyone recommend an endocrinologist in the area? Someone who listens and doesn't just go by blood work... if you have thyroid issues, you know what I...
Marcy K. replied:
I go to Dr. Ansara in Lake Mary and I really like her. She's one of those doctors that sits down and really listens to you.

I have a goiter and am Vitamin D deficiency plus a few other issues. I see an Ortho in Orlando that recommended a group to me because they are on the “cutting edge of metabolic Thorold hormone deficiencies”. So I made an appointment and WOW LOVE her. I can't say enough good things about her and the staff there. Dr. Penny S. Glickman MD Endocrinologist (diabetes, hormones) at Central Florida Endocrine and Diabetes Consultants, 635 N. Maitland Ave. Maitland, FL 32751. They have their own labs there. My Husband goes to Dr. Metchick in Orange City, he’s good takes time with you, explains everything. You have to have your labs done somewhere else though. My problem is when a doctor wants to tell you to lose weight and then he’s extremely over weight himself ….hmmm. But my hubby likes him so he can go there, I’d rather have my own doctors anyway.:-). Good Luck to you.

I used to see Dr Ali who was a partner of Dr Ansara and I loved him! He left a few months back and started a practice in Winter Park. I see Dr Ansara today for the first time. I have been thinking of transferring to Dr Metchick because I've heard nothing but good reports about him.
James P. replied:
Colette I also saw Dr Ali when I went in to see DR Ali they told me he went back to his native home I thoudht I would see DR Ansara but saw a nurse practioner instead do you know anymore information on Dr Ali?
Cassandra M. replied:
Dr. Ansara! She's awesome!!
James P. replied:
For all those who were using DR Ali his new office is in Winter Park his office will open on March firist his web page is (winterparkdoc.com)
Colette R. replied:
Yes, James Pindilli I did see the NP and I was boiling mad that I wasn't told I would not see Dr Ansara. I'm paying to see an endo, not an NP. Sheesh. Well, the NP gave me a decent exam but we butted heads on Dr Ali's protocol for me. Hey, 5 years of success on those meds and she wants to change them? No reason--my labs were perfect. I say, if it ain't broke don't fix it Anyway, I "fired" the NP and raised ahhh cain in the front office. And Dr Ansara then saw me and she was very nice and we straightened things out. Both Dr Ansara and the front desk gave me Dr Ali's new office location and phone number. When Dr Ali left he did tell me that he and Dr Ansara didn't agree on a few things and Dr Ansara said basically the same thing. I did leave happy but I'm not sure I'll return. I will either try Dr Metchick or see if somehow I can get a ride down to Winter Park to see Dr Ali. Maybe my hubby can take off work--I only need to go about every 6 months now (Tho Dr Ansara wants to see me in 3 months...again, no reason but maybe $$$? I don't know.). I would recommend Dr Ansara but definitely not the NP! (Sorry, I left happy but I'm still mad. lol)

I go to Dr Ansara. In lake Mary she is awesome. She is my mom's dr and my bloodwork showed low normal so did my mom's but they did surgery to check a spot on her petuitary gland and her thyroid was the size of your hand and they removed all but ten percent. Since she new my mother's history I thought I would try her. She has my feeling so much better. Great doctor. REGIONAL Endocrinology
Lisa R. replied:
Thank you all for the suggestions... I may just suck it up and pay out of pocket to continue seeing Dr. Roberts. I'm fearful that another doctor may want to "change it up" a bit and freak out my thyroid. I will call a couple of the doctors suggested to get a feel of what the doctor is like before my final decision... thanks again everyone:)

Deborah M. replied:
We are going through the same thing here. We tried Charlene Robinson, who has great reviews, but her first new patient appointment wasn't until May. We scheduled with Dr Ansara in Lake Mary at the beginning of March.
Mary B. replied:
Do not go to Regency Endocrinology. They are awful. I have never seen Dr. Ansara but her staff is awful. They NEVER send anything anywhere. They have sent me for a radioactive scan and to a surgeon. Both places never received any of my records from them. I can't wait to not have to go there again.
Does anyone know an endocrinologist that does not have a 3-7 months wait for new patients? My husband is type 1 diabetic and really not doing well at all. Waiting til...

Dr.Kevin Somai with Central Florida Medical Associates in Orange City on 17-92, just on the border of DeBary. He takes care of the thyroid problems of both my husband and me. This is one review when googling Dr. Somai...(name removed and nothing edited); we think he is amazing! "I have VERY complicated medical issues, to which Dr. Somai embraced with utmost of confidence and puzzle solving skills. He diagnosed two new issues...low cortisol levels and a hypothyroid, to which he had the answers to. I currently see a handful of doctors, and have for yrs, but he was the only diagnose these issues and try fix them. Dr. Somai also has a bedside manner. He allows you the time fully explain your and he goes into great detail ensure you understand what is wrong."
