Does anyone have a good dog trainer that they would recommend? We have a quite large 7 mo lab that could really benefit from it.

At Colfax & Kipling is Ted Terroux, they have puppy, basic, and beyond. They also do board and train. Highly recommend and great location! http://tedterrouxdogtraining.com

Front Range K9. Local and amazing—anyone that knows our dog would agree!:D
Megan H. replied:
Yes! Jonathan Langdon is the best. I have a pup who was very very difficult and Jon has helped more than I can put into words. I've had three other trainers before him, including Terroux, and I wouldn't recommend anyone but Jon.
Bev B. replied:
A lot of people use old school techniques, dont go to them - trust me - shaping works! and fast My puppy can play the drums - taught in 3 sessions with a bucket a clicker and some treats. I can recommend some online classes or dvd's. Susan Garret - crate games, Sylvia Trkman - any of her tricks DVDs, Shaping Success. . .
Does anyone know any good small business dog trainers? Maybe getting a new puppy in the near future and I've been thinking of doing a board and train type of situation...

It's in Broomfield, but [Rocky Mountain Dog Training](https://rockymountaindogtraining.com/) is independently owned and I think a one-woman show. She does positive reinforcement training, which is the best and safest way to train dogs. (Too many places use dominance training, which can backfire very badly, so whatever you do, I'd suggest you avoid anything dominance based.) Julie (the owner) is really observant and able to come up with custom techniques for your particular dog. We went to her when we had a complicated situation with three dogs with very different personalities and were having trouble helping them integrate, and she came up with an approach that worked for everyone.

We trained both of our Aussies with Rocky Mountain Dog Training. We did both puppy socialization, and regular training with RM. Julie, the owner is a very talented trainer and offers both group and private training. Locally owned small business. Her assistant is also really awesome. The reviews on the site definitely reflect our own personal experience. She also runs a **free** puppy socialization group if you want to use it to vet her as a potential trainer while getting your pup some socialization skills. Contact her for details. also looking for the same. I rescued an adult dog late last year. he's well behaved enough, but doesn't know to listen to commands. covid and not wanting to physically be around people has had me holding on going to training

Noble Beast Dog Training is amazing! They do puppy play groups and great basic training classes.

What's a business dog? And why does their trainer have to be small?
thispersona2 replied:
I highly recommend books and youtube for a new untramatised puppy. Bond with that babe! Imo trainers are for behavior problems(after an owner has been lazy and now has an adult dog with bad manners; rescues with behavior issues; owners who are too lazy to try; or owners who need guidance on specific issues). Its hard to fuck up a dog.

Light of dog is amazing. It’s down south near highlands ranch. That’s what we used as our vet highly recommended them

Highly recommend [Denver Dream Dog](https://www.denverdreamdog.com/). The guy runs his business out of his house, and you can tell he just loves hangin out with dogs all that. That and our unruly puppy came back after two weeks of training like she had been doing tricks for years. Super chill dude, really good at his job, and a house/yard is a comfortable environment for a dog, especially a pup. He also does boarding and daycare, and our pup always gets excited when we drop her there when going out of town for a few days.

My family and I are getting more active by taking more family walks and runs lately. None of us like to take our 7 years old loyal, friendly, sweet German Shep mix...

Try Best Friends on 44 th, they have great trainers. Also, as a pit bull owner I totally understand having a very strong dog pull your arm off while walking. Might I suggest you buy a harness? It not only makes it easier to walk your dog but it is also less harmful (choking while pulling) for the dog.
Melanie D. replied:
We used Bark Busters after the dog we brought home from the Denver Dumb Friend's League was highly aggressive to anyone who entered the house. The Bark Busters guy came to the house, spent 3 hours training the dog AND us. It was VERY expensive, but we thought well worth it. (He also helped us with some other, lesser, issues while he was there including occasional lifting his leg in the house).

Terri Desnica at Hounds on the Hill. Is really good. She does group or private lessons where she can meet up with you and your pup anywhere you are having troubles.
