HELP - My rehab project on the 1883 built 24th street house is on life support due to HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing estimates that makes Boston look like a cheap place...
Kelli L. replied:
I've used 72 Degrees in Ankeny for HVAC and Electrical (they handle both.) Ask for Dave Giles. He's really good about old houses and will not mind working with you on getting the price down to your budget.
Maria P. replied:
Have you thought about getting your house listed on the historic register??? You can get tax credits that will help offset the rehab costs. https://iowaculture.gov/history/preservation/tax-incentives/state-tax-credit Also, contact Kelli, she maybe able to set ups some workshops at your house that can help off set costs too... Just some thoughts.... We have the same problem with costs, we are waiting 1 yr in out home to qualify for the NFC loans, and depending on your income bracket, you will only have to pay back a portion on the loan. http://www.neighborhoodfinance.org/home_improvement_program.php

Cheapest HVAC guy i came across getting bids was Leonard Tinker. I didn't have him do duct work though, it was just system replacement. 515.371.2114. YEARS of experience and great service. And I forget the plumbers name, but the head of The Comfort Group plumbing section was pretty clever taking care of some problems in my house. http://www.thecomfortspecialist.net/
Collapsed-wall rental is now very likely going to need a new furnace and duct work to match. Seeking HVAC referrals and/or who can give us the best deal RIGHT NOW? Go.

We have really liked Golden Rule, they do HVAC and plumbing. But how fast they can do it is really hit or miss. If you use them, give them our name.
Rob O. replied:
Colony Heating and Cooling (if they have one in your area), is very reasonable. They replaced our furnace and central air after the flood 2008. Otherwise Affordable heating and cooling (again, if they have one in your area)
