Anybody have a good recommendation for a home insulation installer? Preferably fiber blown into the walls?

Hmm, that's definitely something to ask about. BTW, I have an appointment with L&L Home Solutions for tomorrow! I'll let you know what I find out.:)

Don't do it! There are much more beneficial things you can invest in to improve your home insulation - adding to the attic, sealing air movement in the basement and attic wall openings, sealing outlets and window trim. But more than that, wall insulation without a vapor barrier can harm your house. Bob Yapp isn't the only one to research this but he explains it well: http://bobyapp.com/blog/2009/06/myths-about-insulating-old-house-walls

I recommend conferring with Tim Reynolds, Reynolds Energy Solutions to assess and help with strategy. Brian's points are well taken. Look at the whole house and evaluate comprehensive strategy to air sealing, vapor management and insulation. I have also used Kinzler Construction to handle insulation installation as well, depending on goals of project and needs of home.

Ok, after further investigation, I've decided I'm interested in insulating the band joists and replacing my coal chute with something like glass bricks or a small window. I haven't been able to schedule anything with Tim Reynolds, despite multiple calls, and I'm waiting to hear back from L&L Home Solutions after he stopped by briefly last week. Any good recommendations for someone who can do these jobs for me? I need to hire them out since I'm working with NFC for financing.
