If I were looking for a good place or realtor to talk to about a first time home loan would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

Go to a bank or credit union. They can tell you what you can qualify for and what programs are available (like first time home buyer). I've used VUE Community Credit Union for a mortgage in the past and they were great. Once you know what price range you are in you can look yourself or find a realtor.
