I highly recommend [Oakdale Auto](http://www.oakdaleautodubai.com/) they were some of the nicest guys I've ever met. They fixed my car (daytime running light and topped off my coolant). When I asked how much it was, they told me that I could pay for the coffee they gave me if I wanted, but the repairs were free because they were easy and didn't really cost anything. I doubt anyone else has ever had a mechanic in Dubai fix something for free before. The owner is a Macedonian Canadian guy. I really cant recommend them enough.

I have been told from the Audi group that deutsche technik is a decent garage.

I used Deutsche Tech when I had my older VW, I wasn't impressed with their service but they're under new ownership and management now. I've had a couple of talks with the new manager and he seems pretty legit, a lot of the guys from the VW/Audi club are now taking their cars back there instead of other shops.
Autohaus in DIP is a really good German specialist too, Tibor knows his stuff but they're not going to be the cheapest by any means. They did all the maintenance/services on my RS6 up until I sold it.
I think for decent service with reasonable prices your best bet would probably be DAS in Al Quoz, they have some good mechanics and will take care of you.
My honest suggestion, if you can afford it, is to sell the car and get something newer. Older German cars are expensive to maintain, especially out here. Mine got to the point of costing me roughly 10-15000 every other month and it had to go.

>I'm female, a single female, western (so in their eyes must earn a fortune, how wrong they are!). This part really makes me want to go out and find that reliable German car mechanic for you. That aside What's wrong with the car? I know places in Ajman that does it for cheap.

throwaway-dxb replied:
Not to be a downer but an old German car will keep breaking down and costing you money. They're money pits. It'd be wise to sell it and get something else. If you want a German car, get one that's still under warranty, otherwise settle for an older Japanese car, they're mostly reliable and even if they break down they're easy and cheap to fix.

I completely understand what you're saying with the assuming we must be rich just because we're western females. The amount of times they've given me higher prices is a freaking joke. Is it possible for you to go with somebody else? I always take somebody else with me to do the negotiating because I'm sick of them trying to take advantage of the money they THINK I must have.
It helps as well if you do some research on cars. I've always researched the problems I'm having and what may be causing it and tried as many fixes as possible to do by yourself at home and rule things out before going in. They always jump straight in to telling me it's the most expensive problem possible, which it usually isn't. They flat out tell me I'm wrong and then guess what problem it ends up being? The one I originally I told them !

My colleague recommended GT auto in Al Quoz. It won't necessarily be cheap but they are trustworthy and will sort it out. Run by experienced an U.K. Guy.

There's a place in Umm Ramool amongst the hundreds of shops there I've been going to. Though I got a feeling that when they see westerners the charges would also increase from East to west. Send it with someone else. Good luck
