Hi there!!!; I was wondering if some of you could give some tips about where to go/visit together with my kids (7 & 12, fall holidays here) in Dublin this time, first...
Stephen H. replied:
There is, of course, Dublinia, which is specifically geared for families and young children, and is sometimes left off the 'main' circuit. A 'hidden gem' is the chapter house of St Mary's Abbey, but its opening hours are seasonal so you'll need to check. St Audoen's, the only surviving medieval parish church within the city, is also well worth a look, but again, opening hours are seasonal. www.archaeology.ie, the website of the National Monuments Service, may give you some more ideas. Enjoy your holiday!

Depends on what your children are interested in. There is a sea safari, the surf dock, National Aquatic center, Croke Park which has a museum for Gaelic sport and the children can try their hand at games, there is also a sky walk, Butlers Chocolate Factory in Coolock. Check out, www.visitdublin.com and search for activities for children.

Walter Pall maybe hire a car for 2 days from a firm on the Southside of the City and do Powerscourt and Glendalough.

Dublinia, Bog Bodies in National Museum Kildare Street, Mummies in St Michan's church, take DART to Howth and go for a walk:)
Frances M. replied:
also in the National Museum in Kildare Street is the only replica of the Gundestrup Cauldron, the original, being found in a bog in Denmark

You could also try out a Sea safari trip around Dublin Bay. I went on one of these a few times and found they were great. We went around Lambay Island and into caves and saw some seals basking in the sun. We also saw lots of different birds and on the way back the boat picked up speed and did a few S turns. Before we booked we were asked if we wanted a leisurely trip or an exciting one. We were told that if we were nervous to take the leisurely one. Don't know if it is the still like that or if they stop for the winter, http://www.seasafari.ie/

If you are thinking of taking a trip out of Dublin I would recommend the Museum of Childhood and Tara's Palace in Powerscourt. It was originally in Malahide Castle but since this year has been moved to Powerscourt. www.taraspalace.ie
Frances M. replied:
Powerscourt is also a beautiful place to visit as it is at the foot of the Sugarloaf Mountain in Wicklow, (The Garden of Ireland)
