https://www.facebook.com/169540153098970North Shore Veterinary Hospital has taken excellent care of my family for more than 20 years. Vets and staff are "fear free certified" and use methods that help avoid/reduce stress in the animals. Great staff. Happy, healthy pets.:) http://www.nsvh.com/

Airport Animal Hospital has treated us well, and we have a 2 year old lab who is doing very well.
Ashlyn G. replied:
Duluth Veterinary Hospital! Very welcoming and I would highly recommend them! After our first visit there, they sent us a thank you card.
Susan W. replied:
Northshore Veterinary is wonderful. They have been with us through three dogs (Approx. 17 years). So professional and compassionate! Can't say enough!
Harold B. replied:
Superior Animal Hospital was awesome for us. They also do socialization classes. Petco does puppy playtime. Kelly Brunson knows more about that.
Shelbi G. replied:
Petco is one of the most affordable. We recently took my sister's dog there. Evrything after boosters was $150 and $70 per year after the puppy ones. We normally bring ours to Grand Ave but may start using Petco for shots specifically. Everything else we love Grand Ave. There is no visit fee at Petco which makes it less. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/veterinary-services
Kelly B. replied:
Yes! Playtime is amazing for dogs! When they leave their litter, their litter is still trying to teach them so much. Being in a safe place they can play with other dogs and learn social manners, under a trainers eyes, for free? I love that I can offer this. It's for dogs 6 months and under, but they must be 2 weeks past their first vaccines, up to date for their age, and bring proof with to playtime. It's every Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm.

Heather B. replied:
Dr Jeanetta at Dougherty has been our vet for years. She’s a great vet. If you are looking for just shots/spay or neuter at the moment Check out petcare of Duluth and northland spay/neuter, very reasonable!
Katie M. replied:
Duluth Veterinary Hospital is wonderful! Very friendly and very helpful. Always able to answer any questions as well with new pups! My pup just had an unexpected injury in which she needed surgery, they have been very accommodating and helpful through the whole process. Highly recommend.

I know it is a bit of a drive, but Dr Thomas Skadron in West St Paul is the best vet I have found. When I moved to that area, All of my neighbors had geriatric cats and dogs and recommended that clinic (his dad was a vet, his wife is a vet, Dr Moore has been there for a very long time).
Steve A. replied:
We've always been very pleased with North Shore Veterinary Hospital. We recently had to put a cat down and they were wonderful.

Dr Dahl at Happy Tails (moved to Superior) is simply awesome.

Kathy B. replied:
Dr. Schuder and the vets at Duluth Vet have been wonderful With advise and support for our aging dogs over the years.
Shane B. replied:
Airport Animal Hospital has been really good with Addie and Kristalli and always have suggestions and options when i have questions. I've seen a lot of geriatric cats and dogs in for things during our many visits with the girls, (both social and appointment) over the last year.

James Z. replied:
Dougherty Dr.Jenetta is hands down the best. She has cared For both of my babies. Kado loves her and she is never to busy to call you back same day or answer right when you call. We had seen her for one issue then a few weeks later we had to see Dr. Kayla as Dr.Lisa was in surgery she still popped her head in to make sure Kado was ok. Plus being on a fixed income if its urgent they will allow me to charge. Love them 99 stars way up!!
Lee P. replied:
Another Dougherty Vet fan. Kimo really likes Dr. Jeanetta (heck, he likes them all, likes going there, likes leaving there...he's easy to please with some things)
Kyle C. replied:
We like Waters Edge Animal Hospital on Central Entrance. They've been very honest and easy to work with about payment!

Kari Ries.....try Riley Rue. I work there and not only am I working for a groomer, I'm actually a certified vet tech with a special interest in behavior....I've worked extensively with power breeds (rotts, pits, etc) and used to do Dane rescue. I'm positive we can get your dog's nails done....no problem!
Mike R. replied:
Same with our dog. Plus she has some black nails so I don't feel comfortable doing them. We take her to Riley Rue on piedmont. They are super quick. Well worth it.

We use Birch Hill in Proctor, and Loki(beagle)seems to like it alot. He when we pack up his bed and stuuf he gets really excited just like when he figures out weare going to the park. They took the time to get to know that, if they let him out with small dogs he wants in right away, if he goes out with big dogs he wants to stay out.
Joan F. replied:
I have used Lucky Dog Daycare in Hermantown and Love Them. She only takes small dogs (less than 25 or 30 lbs I think). we took our 2 cavalier king charles spaniels there a few times and they could stay together, etc. she has many dogs that she takes every day - just like a kid day care! but we only used her for overnight stays and it was for Very Reasonable, esp for 2 dogs. The kennels are good sized and inside a heated Attached garage, so right outside her kitchen door, and the pups get good attention. There is a play area indoors, as well as an outside fenced area. Her name is Nancy and it might be worth the drive to Hermantown for you! her number is 218-590-8962. I haven't been there for a couple years, because we have an 85 pound dog now - but it was wonderful and clean and I always felt comfortable leaving our girls there. Good luck!
Michelle F. replied:
Waggin Tails in Knife River. A smaller facility (I think they have 12 large kennels) with a great play yard and excellent care for our pup.
Does anyone know of a good, low cost vet in the Duluth area?

But my puppy needs her shots up to date so I can get her...
Bobbi P. replied:
If it's just for shots I go to PetCare of Duluth. For my special needs cat with actual health problems I go to Airport Animal Hospital.
Any recommendations for a personable and affordable vet in Duluth? We just moved here from Romania, and haven't gotten established with a vet yet. Thanks!

Duluth Vet Hospital on London Rd and 21 st East, or Pet Care on 27 th Ave West.

Alicia K. replied:
We love Dougherty Veterinary Clinic. They are very kind and professional. http://doughertyveterinary.com
Kristen K. replied:
I have had a wonderful experience with Duluth Vet Hospital so far. You have a beautiful pup! Good luck
Kelly B. replied:
I second Waters Edge. When Lexi had Lymes and I had no idea what was wrong, our normal vet told us "she might not make it through the night but we can't get you in". I called everywhere in a panic but was told the same, until Waters Edge. They had me in as soon as I could get there. We've loved it ever since. Our dogs love both doctors, the vet techs, and the receptionist. They have always gotten us in in a timely manner, they are open late and Saturdays. They're all friendly, they make everything easy to understand. During Lexi's lymes disaster, I called Dr. Popp every single day to ask why she wasn't better, etc. She was SO patient with me, and reassuring. She made a lifelong patient out of us.
Konnie L. replied:
We go to Airport Animal Hospital and appreciate the time the vets will take with us and how friendly the staff is. It's like family.
Lee P. replied:
Another vote for Dougherty Vet
Simone M. replied:
We take our two to Duluth Veterinary Hospital on London for most things. But we take them to Petcare of Duluth for vaccines because it's walk in and low cost. Welcome to Duluth!:)
Cerabelle B. replied:
Pet Care isn't a vet. I liked Miller Trunk, but I found then to be a little more expensive than Grand Avenue. Miller Trunk is only in Hermantown, but it's a good 10 minutes away from the Duluth border (Haines Road).
Mary M. replied:
Good choice! We followed Dr Pop when she left Dougherty Vet to open up Waters Edge. My dogs love it there!
Torie K. replied:
Waters Edge is great, but not necessary the most "affordable" in my opinion.
Maryellen K. replied:
You can try Northland Spay and Neuter, in Lincoln Park.
Barbara S. replied:
Pet Care is good but only does shots, exams and minor procedures. No xray too keep cost very affordable. Good clinic for basics. Happy Tails in Superior is less costly than many vet clinics and Grand Avenue in West end in Duluth is highly recommended if cost is an issue.
Rachel P. replied:
We like Miller Trunk Vet - kind of out of town (we used to live out there) but very easy, informed, our dog doesn't get freaked out there.
Katie L. replied:
I love Water's Edge Vet Clinic. They have urgent care hours until late at night and it's charged as a normal visit if you are already a patient. Dr. Popp is really sweet and I am pretty sure her husband (the receptionist/clinic manager is from Romania).
Not park related but any vet recommendation here in Duluth?
Dawn L. replied:
The fine folks at North Shore Veterinary Hospital on East Superior Street have provided vet care for my furkids for the past 20 years. We highly recommend them.:)
William B. replied:
Dougherty vet on central entrance, Kelly Powell is an excellent doc, and a friend of the family for years.
Molly M. replied:
They're all pretty good... I've been taking my pets to Duluth Vet Hospital on 21 st Ave E for over 20 years. I've heard good things about Happy Tails in Superior, too. I know Dr. Prosecky there. She's wonderful!
Emily R. replied:
Duluth Veterinary Hospital on London Rd!
Dawn L. replied:
We're also fortunate to have Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Services in Duluth for emergency/urgent after-hours vet care. They have helped us on a few occasions over the years. http://www.aevs.com/duluth.html
Jeanne H. replied:
We used Duluth Veterinary Hospital for years, but after we moved to Hunter's Park it was a lot easier to get to North Shore Veterinary Hospital. I would highly recommend either one without hesitation. Over a decade ago one of our cats had a stroke and the only place that could see him on an emergency basis that day was Dr. Shirley at Miller Trunk Veterinary Clinic on Highway 53 and (I think) Lavaque Road. They did a great job of diagnosing the problem and rehabbing Willie, who was then ten years old and lived for another six years. I've got some horror stories about vets I used in the Twin Cities, but here in Duluth they all seem to be very good.
Does anyone know any low cost or vets that have monthly plans?
My dog is in dire need of a appointment and we made one but it's to far away and he needs to be seen...
Kirsten L. replied:
We go to Westside Pet Clinic in the west end. It's on superior street and like 19 th ave west. Dr Marsh is a great guy. My dog was just there today. I don't know how quick you can get in but he's a good vet. What's wrong with your pup? I hope he's ok.
Barbara S. replied:
Happy Tails in Superior. On Oaks ave across from Qick Trip, small one story building on corner. 715-718-2130
Pat C. replied:
Try Twin Ports Spay Neuter as they may do wellness checks or Petcare of Duluth. Both low cost.
Angela M. replied:
Ask the vet about Care Credit as well. Works for people and pet medical expenses and I believe no interest for 6 months.
I'm looking for a vet hospital that is open today for my shih tzu. I believe there is one outside of Duluth that is very good, but I can't remember the name.
Luvena S. replied:
The waters edge on central entrance. Dr. Pop is super smart .
Addy D. replied:
Pretty sure my vet in Moose Lake is open today until noon. Moose Lake Veterinary Clinic.
Ashley N. replied:
Petsmart (by hobby lobby) has vet services as well depending on what you need done. Otherwise it is what has been mentioned above or the Er Vet near 27 th ave west.
Denette L. replied:
