Anybody know where to get these wedges at in the states with reasonable shipping rates?

This is where I purchase them from but they are currently sold out. The quality is fantastic and I hate using any other type of wedge. Buy as many as you can when they are available again. https://www.kctoolco.com/ox-head-ox-e-123-0150-fitting-set-for-hatchets-3-pieces/

Hi folks- looking for a reccommendation for a maker in UK/ Europe (to keep shipping cost reasonable).
I am looking for a maker for a re-enactment fighting (blunt) axe,...
Mark C. replied:
wieland forge without a doubt Jason is a re-enactor himself and very reasonably priced for very good quality www.facebook.com/wielandforge/
Peter K. replied:
Really depends on your budget... bigger names, Josh Burrell/ Owen Bush will be able to do it but even if it’s re-enactment it will cost pretty much the same as a usable axe! Might be worth searching for local black/blade smiths...

Anyone have a good website for handle blanks? Thrane axe and saw company gets you on the shipping ($15 for shipping on a 14 inch single bit blank!?)... I'm lookin for...
Brad M. replied:
here's a post i did on the blanks i got if you want to see a good idea of what to expect. if you look at couple other posts ive done you can see how they turn out. my tablet is done for and i dont have the pics on this comp im borrowing or i would send ya some finished pics to see what they can look like. also these are 4/4 but he also sells 5/4 if you like a wider palm swell but it means more stock removal but i went the lazy rout because to me they still feel just as nice when done. wide palm swell to me is more cosmetic if the front and back are done right. https://www.facebook.com/groups/AxeJunkies/permalink/1206921926013039/

Nick Thrane is one of the best people I have ever done business with! Always extremely nice work! Shipping that reflects today's shipping prices and a true love for fine tools. To give you an explanation on what shipping is I sent out a rounding hammer last week. $12 for a 9 hour drive. That covered the USPS cost and I lucked out and had a box that fit. Add in the $2 in regular packing tape, $2 in fiber reinforced packing tape so that it doesn't burst out while the shipper throws over fences into puddles and my half hour trip to the post office. All of a sudden that $15 still has me in the hole. Don't like shipping costs hop in the car and drive there, I can tell you it costs a lot more as I have done it myself. Order handle blanks from Thrane Axe and Saw and you are supporting a small craftsman try and make a living doing something that many people consider a waste of time. Or refuse to pay a bit more from time to time and wonder why there are only big box stores around who carry overpriced low quality short lasting products.
I am looking for a hatchet or head that I can restore as a gift for holidays. We are on a budget so I need to find one for under $15 including shipping. Please help.
Benton F. replied:
That's a pretty tight squeeze for 15 bucks. Your best bet is to search local or see if a buddy has one and hit a hardware store for your handle. Ace hardware carries unfinished axe handles to like 7 bucks. You'll be pressed to find something cheaper unless you hit househandle.com. I wish you the best of luck! Most shipping rates will cost you 10-12 on a 2.5 lb head
